My boiler was broken for a few weeks and I also tried to boil hot water and mix it with water in the bathtube. From trying daily and increasing the amounts of pots, I can confirm that boiling water into cold water does literally nothing and you will just get up your hope that it might be at least a little warmer. It won't. Just take the cold shower and save 2 hours of boiling water for nothing.
