Parlay Revival or WE|Sail - Who Sailed it Best? | Episode 224

10 ай бұрынOn this episode, we set sail against Parlay Revival and finally see who has the faster catamaran. With two identical spinnaker sails from our friends at @PrecisionSailLoftVictoria we test the hull speeds of their 465 Lagoon and our 44 Fountaine Pajot followed by an epic birthday bash for Warren as we celebrate another last around the sun with a proper beach pig roast with the anchorage.

Next time each boat should have a Captain and one Crewman and one person to video! Then see what happens, I can’t even remember which boat won between Parlay and Delos, but I do remember how much fun it was just to watch. Delos only had Brian & Kaza & I think Parlay had 7 or 8, but I think a lot can be said for the team that’s sailed together the longest too…Like someone else said, it really doesn’t matter!

Saw Sea Bella in the video, Kathy blowing the conch. I miss them so much, they are from my home town and I cruised Mexico with them this past winter. Also where I was honored to meet Parley and many others. I'll be in FP next season as I am crossing solo in April.

Happy Birthday Warren, looks like you had a great day....use to do pig roast but using a big charcoal pig roaster....took about 14 hrs to cook......but one thing that was missing was the kegs.....we would normally have 10 kegs for a normal pig roast.....even with your smaller version including the pig seems you would still need 1 keg.....lol.....cheers.....wish we could have been there

Expected, to be honest :). Parlay is longer, folding props etc. But you spend 95% of time on the ancor anyway, so no big deal :)

I have heard folding props can be worth 1 knot or more. I bet that was probably the difference all on its own.

Have you ever tried to go wing on wing with those sails ? I don't know much about sailing, Could it even be done ? You guys need to remember they just had a lot of work done, and you've been in the water without a haulout for over a year. Like you said, they have different props and new bottom paint.

Put money on your head was a bit sore the next day. The best birthdays are like that. I think the shells are are not the problem. You need to go through the boat bilge to hidey holes and chuck stuff off.

You guys didn't lose - I think the race was unfair considering Parlay's large crew ~ the race needs to be fair with just 2 crew at Parlay - Parlay did the same race with a large crew and the few crew of SV Delos

There was very little, but our bottom paint was at least a year older than Parlays since they just crossed only a month before with new paint on their hull

You did not factor in the fact that Parlay have an extended pair of sugar scoops, this will help there hull speed

Parlay might have gotten you but 8 against 2 does matter n VA is no slouch. Best is a good time had by all n too bad a tiny pig cuz you'all had the spit set up going on for a major BBQ.

In those first few seconds of the video you showed an terribly slimy bottom this take a 1 knot off the boat speed clean that baby up and re-race them...
