It's great to actually see the bluffs where Benteen ran his scout. I've been watching the whole series so far, and I enjoy it a lot. Thanks for shooting this.

Yes, the attack was made a day ahead of Terry's estimate. However, I do make the case for Custer's decision to attack on June 25, 1876, and it has nothing to do with gaining all the glory for himself. Custer had serious reasons for moving out and attacking mid-day rather than waiting for Terry and Gibbon to arrive later. Also it must be noted that had the situation been different, Custer had planned to rest the entire day of June 25.

CusterApollo --Indians had discovered Custers troops, Custer needed to attack because he believed based on previous experience that they would scatter and escape.

@hadrien321 Thanks! One of the reasons I made this documentary is because nobody has ever done a complete story on this entire event. If you are really into the Benteen scout then you should look for the rare, but interesting book titled "Benteen's Scout To The Left" by an author named Roger Darling. That book really tells the story of how the battle of the Little Bighorn came to be.

@inutachi43 I agree. And it must be noted that the Indians did plan to move the village the day of the battle. Had Custer waited he would have found the Indians had moved farther north. The advance scouts probably would have spotted Terry's force and the tribes then would have scattered at that point. In the end the campaign is lost as the enemy has disappeared.

If Custer would have allowed the indians to have escaped, I have no doubt He would have been courtmartialed for derilection of duty.

There is no method to the madness when it comes to youtube videos. It is much easier to go to my home page and view the playlist. At least then you can follow all the sections in order with relative ease.
