I was told to leave a gap for expansion with the subfloor stuff. He put it right upto the wall. ?

take it you use laminate as its cheaper engineered is much better for underfloor heating and more durable but good job anyway

Morning so do you need special flooring for the underfloor heating and also how cost-effective is it compare to an oil or electric radiator and does if give out as much heat?

It’s great. Just need the thin insulation boards to lay it on 👍

From experience, it's much more cost effective vs traditional heating systems. Set it on low around 18-19 degrees and leave it on all the time in rooms that you frequently occupy. The saving can be as much as 30% depending on the under floor system you use - they are all rated different for efficiency. The more efficient systems will cost more. The cheaper ones tend to use more electric.

The underfloor heating company have now stopped selling that foil heating mat that you used in this fantastic build. Have you heard of any complaints from your customers saying it’s not efficient enough? I am just about to purchase some for my garden build. Also, did you use Karndean rigid core flooring or a laminate flooring? I would appreciate some advice if you can 😊

Morning mate, quick question please; the underlay that you use - is it the XPS foam underlay or woodfibre (or neither)? Cheers! :)

Do not use XPS (foam) your tounge and grooves on the laminate will split (mines did) use the fibreboard, much better

How long does a job like this take for you? I’ve never used a screw driver before and want to tackle this 😂😂😂

Solo it can be built in 3 weeks. 15 working days with the correct tools.

What about gluing the edges of each plank. To stop gaps developing with underfloor heat expansion of the laminate planks?

No gaps develop. You don’t need to glue laminate as it is a click system and holds together.
