I loved watching this! You are all very brave and funny, too. The guy playing the guitar added so much to the feel of this video. He is really good. The sound effects are beautifully haunting. 👑

Thanks for watching. Guitar Joe didn’t manage his solo for this trip’s Video but I’m sure you’ll hear more from him next time. You can follow The Crew on Facebook on Life at Sea on an ERRV

I just want to add the importance what these people do to patrol these installations on Thursday there was an incident in the Norwegian sector a person fell into the sea after an accident on the installation and with in minutes after the alarm was raised the person was picked up by the Standby Vessel and brought back to the mother ship for Medical treatment the person was then evacuated to the nearest hospital but later died from his injuries. Theses people on the standby vessels need medal for the jobs they do to make the oil installations safer.

Every-time I see a deep sea rig, I can’t help but reflect on the BP ring in the GOM that came to a catastrophic end. There is so much that goes on with any rig, stick it on a hole way down in the water and it just baffles the mind. Great guitar work👍👍😎

that was a picnic compared to Piper Alpha kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qrZxkpmgqs3HYac.html

Bigwavemaster1 ~~~~~~ You are right, Piper Alpha was much worse. If you consider all that is going on in one of those rigs, it is amazing that more mishaps don’t take place.
@Bigwavemaster16 жыл бұрын
That’s for sure. The North Sea Sector is a very safe place these days. The Piper Alpha really shook up of ERRVs. If it wasn’t for that we would probably all be out of a job.

Thank you very much We film some of the largest waves ever caught on camera. We work with 2 oil platforms that can accurately measure wave height so no guessing or exaggeration. Enjoy 🌊🌊 kzfaq.info/sun/PLG-lkGl9kpwSEoYG5fJ3pwqVNZaDivv7z And Meet the Crew kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hZ57l9pjx5_HdYU.html

Is the ocean ever calm? Do you take something so you don't get sea sick? You men are sooo brave. That is a very small ship in that hugh violent ocean. How long after you leave port does the ocean get like This? How long did it take you to get to the oil rig?
@Bigwavemaster16 жыл бұрын
The North Sea is very rarely calm and it can be like this as soon as we leave the harbour. On a good day it will take us 26 hours to reach our location. On a bad day? Much longer.

The image is a bit shaky at 8:26 ;) What did you use to make rope fenders , old tires ? (or rogue fenders , you make me work my English vocabulary ;) ) BTW you are 2 boats, or even more, on stand by near the platforms ?

We cut up an old mooring rope, folded it over a few times to make it 4 x thickness with a smaller rope tied to it as a handle. There is only us looking after 2 platforms but probably about 100 boats doing our job in the North Sea.

SO it looks like a sausage you hold from above between your boat and the obstacle ? I suppose you do not put your hand in between ?
