I worked at RS then. I sold a LOT of those $30 8-Track decks! Sold a lot MORE CB radios though. The CB "craze" was "Peak Radio Shack". Great place to work in the late '70s-early '80s! Too bad they started to go to shit in the late 1990s. (Yeah, I'm an old man...Still a radio "geek" though!".

Yes Cheryl Ladd was in the T-Bird commercial and note how well placed that Clip was just after there was an ad for the new Mustang II Cobra very Charlie’s Angels ( the blue and white one ) that was passed on from Farrah Fawcett to Cheryl Ladd.

You forgot PBS, that made 4 channels, and there was a couple fuzzy channels on "the other knob" that you could watch Benny Hill and Ultra Man on, they were channels 53 and 22 in the Pittsburgh area starting in the late 70's, before that I could never figure what that knob was for.

The Pinto thing was a complete and total myth fabricated by a pack of scumbag lawyers who were trying to get a class action lawsuit going so they could get a cut of it. Not only was there never a single documented case of one blowing up from being rear ended but also the "Federal" safety film that showed one exploding from being rear ended that everyone saw in the news and juries saw in the court rooms was rigged to blow up with command detonated Dynamite, and it wasn't even from a federal testing facility like the NTSB, it was done by a private testing lab that the lawyers involved in the scam paid to get the results they wanted, people just assumed it was done by someone like the NTSB because of the target stickers on the car that federal agencies use for tests like that, which is why they were put there, to give people the impression that it was done by some official government testing facility, the worst thing is the lawyers gave the private testing lab something like 3 or 4 brand new Pinto's to get the results they wanted and even after doing things like poking holes in the gas tanks and leaving the filler necks disconnected on the tank of one that was filled all the way to the top they still couldn't get one to blow up when it was rear ended, so with only one car left they rigged it up with Dynamite and command detonated it just as it was rear ended. The Corvair roll over myth was the same thing, same deceiving tricks with the target stickers, after repeated attempts that couldn't get one to roll over on asphalt or concrete they had to resort to loose dirt for the wheels to dig into when sliding sideways to get it to flip. Both the exploding Pinto's and the rolling over Corvair's are both myths that were fabricated by bottom feeding scam ass lawyers looking to suck money out of the American car industry.

They DO contradict, but this was (is) common in advertising. It's more to "grab the ear" of the buyer who WAS actually committed to one size or the other, but hearing their affirmation MIGHT cause affinity for the BRAND. Such buyers subconsciously would "tune out" the OTHER ad as that was NOT the size that they REALLY wanted in the first place and would thus be "blind" to the contradiction. American version, Canadian version had kms in large numbers and mis in small numbers.

American version. My 1977 Buick Electra had the same Mph/Kmh speedo. It was standard stuff then. In the US the Mph had larger numbers VS Kph, Reverse in Canada (and other non- US markets).
