Great advice, thanks! I'm a huge fan of Correct Toes. I have wide feet that were deformed by conventional shoes resulting in early stage bunions on both my big and little toes. It affected my balance, pronation, and ultimately my back. I now only wear wide minimalist shoes with Correct Toes and do exercises every day to reshape and strengthen my feet. I'm so much stronger after just a few months.

The issue is, getting a bigger shoe, means that often times, it gets much longer then you need, if you want to compensate for being wider at the toe box..That creates a shoe thats to long. Even the minimalist shoes dont have, and need, a rating with toe box width that is universal. Ive got a size 13 in the traditional shoe size being Im 6'4. But when I go to barefoot or more foot shaped shoes, its hard to find foot shaped shoes wide enough to allow me to splay to where my toes (tappered in from years of traditional shoes) should be splaying to with out getting them longer, (which is to long). And then on top of that add that so the shoe doesnt look totally weird to someone and has a nice design. lol.

Good point. Tip of the toe shoes must wider than the rest. This to allow to grab more.

I remember being fitted with shoes as a child, and the salesperson used one of those devices mentioned to measure my feet. It was rare for them to measure both feet, especially my right one, which was longer. It was never checked with me standing. I asked about this once and was told the device didn't work that way. Ha!

Unfortunately, modern footwear is mostly pointed toe boxes such as asics, nike, puma, addidas. You have to find special shoes that have wide toe boxes.

95% of "athletic shoes" are simply not designed for anatomical functionality of the foot. These shoes are designed to look appealing to the consumer. Altra, Topo, Saucony Mad River Trail shoe have a toe box that is appropriate for toe splay. Many peoples feet are misshaped from wearing shoes that are too narrow and poorly designed. The industry needs to change....

If you ever try to handstand walk, do you spread your fingers or keep them as close as possible? It's the same concept with the feet, and it's highlighted more with handstand walks because they are more difficult than feet walks.

I cant find a affordable running shoe that has a wide toe box and stiff sole. Altra is too expensive. Help.

i hate the arbitray size numbers. Why not go with real universal units like inch or cm/mm. Im a 44 with adidas and like 42,5 with new balance... they're both 27cm... smh
