Nice work Bob The install is looking very clean and nice I like the line cover kit you used for the lines looks better than just the lines running down the wall. I think the way you coiled and buried the lines turned out great and should work just fine. Looking forward to the next video in the series. Have a great day. God Bless!!!

The manufacturer said the lineset would be fine the way I had it. If I could redo it I would move the outside unit down a bit. This unit is working great I love it.

Thanks for posting this video, I am in the process of making final decisions on which mini split to install as a DYI project and I think I am going with the Senville.The person you posted that has a KZfaq channel that was an inspiration for your install is Steven Lavimoniere...he is from my area and I subscribe to his channel.

So I just Installed my 18,000 Senville mini heat pump. Watched your video and it was very helpful. I was able to cut my lines and make my install a little more sanitary as I had the flaring tool to do it with. I also went to our county and purchased a permit as we will be renting the house out eventually. The county guy was shocked that I was asking him for a permit as nobody had ever asked for one that wasn't a licensed HVAC person. I did have to give them an affidavit on final inspection that said I vacuumed and pressure tested the system as per the manufacturers instructions. I am in Island County WA. and the permit fee was $57.00 and the electrical permit was $65.00 All said this is a very easy install. I had several bids of around $5500.00 to do this install before I decided to do it myself. After everything was purchased from amazon and a few trips to the hardware store for minor electrical conduit and screws I have a total out of pocket of $1300.00 and a great heat system. Super Happy i did it myself !!!

@Mykel Hardin Yea the HVAC industry is seriously lacking. Every HVAC install and service company doubles their cost on parts, and 80-100% of their "technicians" are only taught OJT by more experienced unqualified techs. Even the nitrogen purge, braising, vacuum, leak check and refrigerant matching is done by unqualified people. The guys that have been in the industry for 20 years have picked up quite a lot through experience but they all have bad habits and straight up bad practices for this or that.

GREAT video! Wish it was uploaded before I started mine last week. I have the exact same system and so far I'm right in line with how you did your installation, except my lines were a little short as my unit is on my 2nd floor, so I mounted my condenser a few feet up my wall with brackets. I just completed my wiring today and that is when I found your video. Tempted to wait until you upload video 3 when you vacuum down and release the gas. But I feel more confident seeing your work confirming I'm so far so good. Subscribing now and thanks for the video!

Another great video. Thanks. One issue that I see. The plywood you used is for flooring as you mentioned. It actually is OSB not plywood. It is a bunch of shavings glued and pressed together, which is very strong (for flooring and roofing). However, the glue is not waterproof. You should have used Marine Board (green in color). Even though you covered it, to protect it from the rain; moisture from the ground will make that area around the OSB 90-100% Humidity. It will start to rot in a year. Although, I like your idea of making a platform to rest the unit on. I mounted mine about 3 feet off the ground. I used two metal racks used for heavy storage and secured them to the house and to the concrete. It is chest high and it was easy to install the lines and wiring. I hope to never work on it but in case I need too, it will be easy. My only issue was lifting the outdoor unit up onto the racks by myself trying to impress the wife. I tweaked my back so I had to stop and drink a beer.

Nice install. Be careful this winter with snow around your compressor. The housing has a drain, but it should not be an issue in the winter. I made a stand for mine about 18" off the ground. If you do wood working, check your filters often. You do not want a plugged evaporator coil.

All good tips. I am going to shovel around it when it snows. I heard they make snow feet to raise it up. What does the hose do. I did not put one on because I figured it would drain off the slab. If the hose freezes what is the use of it?

@christopherrunning4931
@christopherrunning4931 4 жыл бұрын
So I bought this unit, and the reason you don't have pressure coming out of the low side at 6:57 is because it all came out the high side when you took the high side cap off. I watched your video before I got mine and wanted to test this out when the unit arrived, and indeed, the lines and evaporator are all pressurized - or at least, they should be from the factory.

Was wondering if the unit runs good the installation says the minimum should be 6 inches from ceiling. I also need to install one closer to the ceiling not sure if it will actually make a difference or effect the efficiency.

Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I am also stuck between the Pioneer units and the Senville ones. Looking at 2 zones units. After much research I found that Pioneer costs a little less yet the installation manuals are the exact same for both brands. However, Senville does give more BTU with the outdoor condensor with the 2 zones units. Your video helped allot because Senville does not show that they include the wire, tape, and wall sleeve on their website and Pioneer does. What was your reason for going with Senville? Thanks!!!
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, it came down to price. I think these units are about the same in fact they use many of the same parts. I like the Toshiba compressor and the thicker lineset with the senville. It was 3/8 and 1/2". Also when I talked to the manufacturer they were really helpful, so I figured if there were any problems I would at least have someone to talk to.

We get pretty warm down here in the summer and the humidity can make it feel even worse Yesterday it 96 here with a heat index (feel like temperature) was around 108 and there are parts of the country that are even hotter I have a little supplemental air off our central system in my basement(garage) were i work on my stuff the older I get the harder the heat is on me LOL and my wife says the same trhing.

When we have heat. Which we do it tends to have a bit less humidity. When there is both (humidity and heat we have a lot of seniors in distress. That is about 7 days a year. I have had 1 issue caused by that.

Works as a heater as well as a dehumidifier just as well as an air conditioner. Great to keep the rust off the tools. Depending on the SEER rating (a better measure is the COP rating which few manufacturers will give) they are at peak temperatures about 25% as costly as electric resistance heating which is the most efficient alternative. So win win. The only problem is how long a useful life they will have but as the price has been coming down that is becoming a mute point to some degree. Putting an 18K btu in my shop addition before winter here in coastal Alaska. Take care. Doug
@douglasthompson2740
@douglasthompson2740 6 жыл бұрын
PS: If you are running it year round the higher SEER rating becomes more important. The higher the SEER the more efficient the operation and greater the savings. Some are now at the 27 level (higher priced as well but the return in electric savings will pay in the long run). The various units can be better for one function over another and some do all equally well--pays to do your research for what your needs are.

DO NOT USE THREAD SEALANT!. Sorry to be so loud but I worked at refrigeration systems for 47 years and I know what I am talking about. The refrigerant metering device in any refrigeration system has a pin hole opening that will freeze and or simply plug solid if even a very small drop of this sealant gets into the system. This can can cause very major repair problems. If you feel the need to lubricated your flare fittings use only a small amount of refrigerant oil.
@muk743
@muk743 6 жыл бұрын
Looks good. But the additional line set you have is not a good Idea. The oils in the R410A will settle in the bottom of the coils. cut them shorter and re flare the ends and remove the additional R410A to accommodate a shorter line set. Just my opinion. Looks good though.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 6 жыл бұрын
That was the original plan, but you need to have at least a 10' lineset. The manufacturer said that by cerpentining it like I did it would be fine. I would have moved the outdoor unit down had I known the lineset needed to be at least 10'. Hopefullly, people can learn from my install and do their's correctly.
