I’ve had my 361 for almost 20 years as well. Been a great saw overall and have never regretted buying it. It’s sat for long periods sometimes, but has always started without fail. Like this saw, it has seen minimal maintenance, just basic stuff like a good cleaning occasionally and blow out the filter. Still has the original plug and original 25” bar. I dress the bar when it needs it and keep a sharp chain on it. I did upgrade mine to the twin spike setup and roller chain catcher. Well worth the cost and I’ve never regretted it.

You have a neat and well organised shop. I like the way your work area is free of clutter. I also like that you don't risk stripping and cross threading fastners by using power tools to reassemble equipment. You are the most professional small engine mechanic that posts on KZfaq.

Hi! Thank you so much for the comment. I am told multiple times an hour that I should be using an impact - impacts have their place - working on this chainsaw isn't one of them. I much prefer to use hand tools, as Stihl requests and as I was trained. I think it's also more enjoyable to watch! Who wants to listen to my impact! :)

You have all the proper stihl tools and knowledge to complete these jobs except the most important ONE! SAFETY GLASSES! I see you move away from the work and look away when doing the difficult stuff. Cover the most important asset you have, your eyes! Even a fuel splash will ruin your day! Trust me, fuel in the eye burns, small plastic and metal pieces in the eyes will always happen on a Friday afternoon when the ophthalmologist will not see you until Monday! It is the longest painful weekend of your life. Hospitals won’t help you unless bleeding from the eye! Ask me how I know! Edit. I just heard you say it at minute 20. I was writing while watching

Those T-handle drivers will develop a lot of windup energy when loosening fasteners and when they break loose that energy is sent straight to your wrist. Might think about getting a 1/4" speed handle and some bits for teardown cause you don't want to damage the wrist. You check the drags on that chain? Chips looked a little small.

Replacing the carb with new is the only way to go on an old saw like this. New replacement will make it run like new.
