I rode the engine from Revelstoke to Field circa 1985 and the Engineer in this video is the same engineer on the train I was on. It was just before Christmas and I was going to my parents home in Edmonton (my yearly trek) and this time I took the train & picked up in Banff by brother. I was working for BC Hydro in Nakusp as a designer. I had a ticket and showed it to the engineer and asked if I could ride the engine. He said sure but he only went as far as field. What a treat THANK YOU

Superb takes me back a few years to when I cycled from Golden past Field to the Motel at the summit. Then down and around to the Sunwapta Pass on the way to the Columbia Ice-field.

aside from being a great video, I think it is an interesting introduction to social science at all the attention to a peevish wiper design and pretty much not even mentioning how we went from stoking a blazing furnace constantly to sitting in a shock absorber seat tweaking a couple levers just so

AT time interval 0:47 I'm one of the trackman standing near the Speeder; This is interesting about a month after this they stopped running trains #1 an#2 THE CANADIAN on the Canadian Pacific.

Too sad that the 1990 cutbacks sacrificed most rail services in western Canada. I still don't understand the logic of the politicians when it comes to reducing train services. Maybe it's because I'm from Germany where we don't have about 470 trains a week serving the country, but more than 40000 each day!

lol i rather like them i most prefer 2 b th engineer on rainy days or nights i love every sound th locomotive im in makes at least until a turbo blows or my horn goes bad then i get sad

For a hardcore foamer riding in the cab would be a dream come true. CN want to raise some cash offer thrill of a lifetime rides for say a grand. Probably in our security and terror-crazed age it would never happen. I'd buy one though.

@4Mr2ThC0 yeah, same thing with old tractors i used to drive when i worked for the farm. NONE of them worked right (the wipers). i just didn't even bother when it rained.

the rogers bever hill pushers were2 sets of 6 locomotives either sd 40's or 40-2's used to help freigts and the Canadian up the grade at Rogers I beleive via's only had help in one direction not both at rogers..unless one of the Canadians F's FP9 or 40 died...then theyd help both ways
