Wow what a journey you've had my brother but at the end of the day. You are blossoming and conquered through it all with the help of the Almighty God, what you've just narrated it's touchy, wise and beautiful. I wish you well in all of your future endeavours. Prosper my brother. I wish our children could learn from people like you that it is possible regardless of your background. Anything you put your mind and invest your time on through discipline it's possible. Wow👏

I love how Mduduzi went delved into the aspects of the work he has done. It paints a better picture of different projects actuaries might work on. These examples could be used to give people a high level overview of work you'd get to do.

What a genuinely beautiful story. I like the fact that he is actually proud of the fact that he's from eKasi and proud of the the journey in its entirety. One question I have is, after graduating with a Mathematics and economics degree, what did he do next to qualify to write the actuarial exams ? Did he perhaps take an honors programme in Actuarial Science to learn some actuarial Stuff, or he just went into taking the exams successively, given the fact that he had a minimum of maths 2 and stats 3 from his degree? Anyone who might have that kind of knowledge can please reply with an answer 🙂

Hey Sanelisiwe I actually had only Maths 3 and economics 3. I only had stats 1. Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) allows you to write the entry level exam if you have a mathematics degree or a similar degree like computational or computer science. After you pass that, you can then proceed to write other exams. That entry level exam is called Maths of Finance.

@@mduduzivilakazi4270 Hi can I ask when you wrote your entry exam how many exams did you write after, to be able to get a job in the Actuary field? For entry exams I'm assuming you sponsored yourself for exams but did the company you started to work for pay for your fees onwards?

Hi Pumelela That one exam was enough to get me a job in the field. I worked for a company called NBC holdings. They’ve played a huge role. Yes, the company also paid for my fees.
