These monkeys look so much cleaner and fuller than the other monkeys. You know the ones the Amari group ect. Not only that their fur/hair is thicker and it doesn't look like their hair is pulled out off the top of their heards.

I don't know how these monkeys sevive with such little food! They hang around on the payment eating God knows what small peebles I guess instead of going into the forest where I am sure there is an abundance of vegetation fruit!

I am wondering, in light of bat-ears and Damian, are there any other babies with apparent disabilities? Could there be an effect from the fallout of the nuculear power plant disaster during the tsunami? I don't know if that area was affected by the fallout or not, but just curious. This is about the time it would show up in living things, plants, frogs, monkeys, humans, etc.

Please pardon my lack of knowledge, but about how old is Damien in this video? He sure is a cute little guy, and his mother seems pretty calm.

I think he just likes hanging on and hanging with his legs down, he grabs on just fine when he wants to. As far as no one wanting to play with him or associate with him, he could possibly be extremely low ranking and the monks he's wanting to play with are to good for him because their social standing is higher, or he's a high ranking monk and the others are fearful of the mother. I see nothing unusual here at all. After all he's a new baby walking on an uneven ground that slopes. He climbed the railing just fine....

He is climbing on the railings very nicely. I am trying to remember whether this baby was coordinated but shunned or also uncoordinated like the other baby.

He is certainly an intelligent curious baby who is not at all clingy.

I think he's just being silly. I think he likes letting his feet go when he's hanging onto mom because it's fun for him. As far as the kids backing away from him, there's 3 possible reasons. 1.) he is low ranking. 2.) he is high ranking. 3.) it's time to forage, not to be silly. He's a cute lil guy. He will be okay.

I have to disagree with this little pairs' ranking in this troop. High ranking females stay all tucked together with the oldest Mama, to her daughters, and their daughters, and all take care of any newborn. This baby is shunned by ALL. He is so low ranking they won't even tolerate him in their vicinity. High ranking ranking females stay in packs as they wander unless they are in estrous. Then that young lady will go off with any man she deems suitable, from within or outside her group. If she has an offspring not with the lead male, that baby also will be shunned.
