A Delray neighborhood friend used to work for Detroit Marine Supply. The company would deliver anything to the river ore, or freight carriers on the Detroit River, or Rouge River.freighters. From fresh & canned food, to clean laundry, to mail. Watching this boat company service brings back memories of helping him deliver an order of goods to one of the Ford Ore ships on New Year's Night, docked at the Ford Rouge Plant. We climbed on board into the steel delivery basket, to have the ship's cook sign off on the food delivery order in the ships galley. Those Ford ship crew members ate very well on board. Nothing but the best of everything imaginable. From roast duck to champaign. 4 or 5 inch thick steaks, filet mignon, to the finest European and domestic wines. That company delivered whatever the ship company wanted. Nice video.

i don't think so. when i shipped on the great lakes years ago we got our mail from the westcott mail boat just south of downtown Detroit. also newspapers, ciggs and various other cargo. and crew-members transferring on and off the boats.
