Lots of good information here, thank you. I agree with you about steel or aluminum lines where possible. The OEMs did it that way for a reason. NHRA limits the amount of rubber fuel line on a car for a reason. You see people pulling flex line the whole length of the car with A/N fittings. That's a lot of money to spend on something you can do with hard lines for a lot less money and in some ways better. Oh, and a trans cooler? Yeah. Just do it. Heat will kill an automatic transmission fast. Count me among those who want to know why you aren't a fan of disk brake swaps. I want the best brakes I can reasonably get on my classic. Modern traffic is too crazy.

My 4R70W came out of a 98 Ford Explorer. My 75 Gran Torino 351W original flexplate and spacer plate worked with 4R70W.Also my Torino had 2 cross member frame pads.I think the rear pad was for a C6.I was able to the rear pads on the 4R79W. And I have the original explorer cooing lines. Im just going to radiator trans cooler .Never had any problems in the past. Im using the US shift quick 2 controller . Keeping it simple. I have Ford 9inch with 3.0 gear ratio. And I'm sticking with rear drumb brakes . Using Mercon V. Thanks for the great info.

For me, I've got a 64 Cruise-O-Matic that's just not going to cut it with my build. The options I'm looking at are a 67 C6 (I have) or a 4R75W (don't have). Either are going to take some fabrication in my 64 Galaxie. The 4R75W will require more, but will bring overdrive and programmable transmission parameters. I intend to run 3.70 or possibly 3.89 gears in the 9 inch. I am not thinking of using anything other than the 9 inch rear.

This is great. I'm planning to do the 4R70W in a 66. I'm curious about what pan you end up going with. I've read that you can swap over an AODE pickup and pan to get rid of that nub on the bottom, vs going with the larger deeper pan you used on the Fairlane swap. Looking forward to more videos on this install. Heck, maybe you can do mine next.

Dropping a 5.0 out of a 96 Explorer into a 65 F100. I've converted it over to carb instead of EFI. I bought a 4R70W out of a 2000 Mustang, it has the correct bolt pattern to fit behind the 5.0. I also got the flywheel and the torque converter from the same Mustang. Just want to know what tooth count and weight on the flywheel? Also, can I theoretically use the torque converter out of the Mustang with the 5.0 or do I need one specific to the 5.0? I just want to make sure I'm using the correct combination of parts to get this to work together cohesively. Thanks.
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 6 ай бұрын
Any 5.0 built after 1983 will have a 50 oz. imbalance. So if you have a transmission, flywheel and torque converter from a pushrod 5.0 out of that 2000, it will work.
