Funny I was in Philly the week before you posted this trying Geno's for the first time. I was driving back from South Carolina to Massachusetts and just had to stop on the way. I went straight to Genos. I did not go to Pats to compare. I was stuffed after eating the whole Geno's Steak and Cheese. I really enjoyed it. I will hit Pats the next time I'm in the Philly area. Thanks for sharing!

Nice! You bring up a good point. I definitely felt like the contents at Geno's were more substantial than Pat's. If you're in the vicinity of Pat's, definitely check it out, but while we were in Philly, we had cheesesteaks from a different place called Cleaver's that was so good, we ended up getting takeout a second time. I have that review up on the channel here as well.

Where can I buy those pickled peppers they have on the side? I’ve never seen them outside of Philly. They’re perfectly sweet n spicy

The supermarkets in my area have them in the Italian section or you can try an Italian specialties store. You're looking for a premium brand jarred cherry peppers. They actually come in either hot or sweet. Cheaper brands are ok, but those peppers are usually thinner and less snappy than the more expensive ones.

Funny you mention that they might be in cahoots because they were on a Morning News broadcast both owners were and they say they don't hate each other and the owners of both restaurants had said they both live in same building.

I didn't want to mess around with the flavors of the sandwich. Although, at a different place, I ordered one with a cherry pepper relish that was really good, so maybe next time I'll load the sidewalk peppers on the sandwich. Who knows!?

@@derryXDINES I did, once, and I will admit it was 3-4 years ago, but I have eaten my share of cheesesteaks, and it certainly looks overcooked in the shots of it in the video

Hey buddy Gino's and Pat's are the worst cheesesteaks in Philadelphia it's definitely for tours cuz you don't put cheese wiz on a Philly cheesesteak what American cheese is a real Philly cheese steak and it better be chopped nice and fine

Geno’s to me didn’t taste authentic to me. It was ok. But I enjoyed the Pat’s with the whiz.

Forget Pats & Genos they are tourist traps, go where the locals go. Dalessandro´s, Tony Lukes and Jim Steaks are the best options.

@@derryXDINES No problem, I understand wanting to go to the tourist placest, you need to form your own opinion and thats ok. I noticed in your video that in the fisrt cheesesteak, you mentioned that it was on the dry side. My though is they just want to do it fast, and they cook with high heat, the result is overcooked and dry meat. This is the problem with this tourist places, well at least now you know for yourself.

I've heard that, but these rolls were definitely distinct. Pat's seemed more crusty like Italian bread. Geno's was softer (definitely an Amoroso roll).

We had a heads up that was the case, so we had the order worked out on the car ride over, but I did notice at Geno's they were a little short with us when we were trying to order something to drink. 😂😂

We found this unassuming place Cleaver's near our hotel that was amazing. I have a review of that in the Philly playlist on my channel.

Most of these places are bland. They think the meat makes up for the flavor but who wants food that isn't seasoned. Jim's is the same way

@@derryXDINES it's only right. So far the best I've had was John's roast pork cheesesteak. It was perfect in almost every way. Angelo's was decent but I screwed it up by ordering whiz and American and so it was way too cheesy but upon tasting the meat it didn't appear to be seasoned at all. I'll have to try it again in the future

There's a few reasons why it wasn't a waste of time, but from the perspective of getting a good cheese steak, I've had a few better ones since then, yes.

I've only been to Geno's, and frankly; I found it quite bland overall. I've had a better experience at subway. My first train of thought anyways. That meat needs some seasoning, salt, pepper , maybe a kick to the onions or wizz.

💯 Tourist BS! The best Cheesesteak Sandwiches are just outside of Philly in Delaware County. You find the corner cheesesteak places and they are amazing and actually give you LOTS of meat.
