Cool idea to hedge prop challenge with private account. This did throw me into another rabbit hole as an algotrader. This is interesting thought experiment to try to make it work. Perhaps even in practice. I think it would be enough to hedge just the challenge. Live account could then need to be properly traded without personal hedge i think...

Very nice, Lisa. Risk free trading - the holy grail! I suppose this concept should work with any EA where you are trading the EA on the prop firm account and, in reverse, on your real account. There may be discrepencies in order entry due to the different feeds at the brokers but the end result should be close enough. As far as the balance needed in the real account, if the real account is at 500:1 leverage and the prop firm account is at 30:1 then $3k should more than suffice for a $100k challenge account - assuming the prop firm EA does not generate drawdowns of 50%! I don´t understand how this system works on funded accounts, though. Does the Slave account just shut down once it has incurred a $500 loss, on the assumption that the Master account will cruise on to victory (without reversing to register its own $500 loss)?

Fantastic idea. I feel that this system is already being used by those who guarantee to get your acc funded or money back. And hedging in trading has many advantages when done right. The trick is always in the math. But having a simple system using the copy trader is very creative 👏

Maybe passing the Challenge phase more or less risk free is enough to ask. If your master EA is good enough to get you to the Evaluation phase - where you can then pass even with cutting your risk in half - that sounds like a good deal to me.

No, you would need more than 3k to cater for leverage.

Hi Lisa, I did some math, if u passed phase 1 and phase 2, your own account is loss at (-500) + (-1000) usd + (-500 challenge fee) total will be -2000usd, then if funded u failed at -10%, u get back +1500usd is not enough to cover the total -2000usd. U only get funded cost +500 back if u are able to profit at funded stage.

If you pass the 2 phases and do not get a profit or a refund, you will lose the amount in the account to purchase the prop and 500dol, double, just lose the value of the prop. But if you succeed, you lose the value in the real account, but gain the greater profit from the larger prop account. in addition to the cost of the robot.

What greater profit from the larger account? You need to pass phase 1 & 2, by that time you are negative on your real + challenge fee, so there is no profit at this point from the larger account, you will only see your refund fee after trading the bigger account, then you could get your profit percentage + challenge refund fee. Wouldn‘t it work with even less capital? By buying 4 prop firm accounts and executing 4 trades simultaneously, 2 buy trades and 2 sell trades to pass first phase and then with the last 2 accounts, you could pass the second phase and hopefully get funded. What do you think?

Simultaneously opening positions in opposite directions on different accounts is prohibited by most of the prop firms like True Forex funds, Infinity. opening a long position on one account and a short position on another account at the same instrument, price, and time is not permitted. How did you overcome this ?

the rule applies between prop firms, not your personal account. They don't have access to your personal account.

One question: when you are funded, you won't immediatly get refund, so if you lose from the funded, you will lose 500$ and gain on your personal 500$, but now you are at -500$ not at breakeven right? Or did I miss something? Because at phase 2 you were at -1000 on your personal, if you lose the funded you gain 500$ on your personal, so now you are at -500$..

This is the real reason they didnt used to allow copy trading btw, i remember speaking to staff in TFT last year and it was like a qna sort of this and someone asked why they would not allow EA's or copy trading and the staff member stated people were arbitraging challenges with copy trading across other firms. This was when they were starting to acquire the tech for background dashboards and the firms started sharing ip addresses of trades with one another!

Hi, I followed the video with great enthusiasm. But there is an error in the explanation, Ftmo refunds the purchase fee only in the split and not after phase 2. So if you lose in the funded game you have to recover $2000 and not $1500 :)

I have tried to get into prop farming but it is hard and this seems to give a lot of hopes to many people. I think there are some prop firms that we can do just 1 stage challenge which means we may be able to use this method and then just use some good EAs for the funded accounts

Per your 100k example at the funded stage if you lose you show you make $1500 in your real account but you lost 1k at stage 2 and 0.5k at stage 1 and cost of challenge 0.5k would mean you need to make 2k in your real account to breakeven if you fail the funded stage, can you clarify? 2. The cost of this EA is not factored in could you potentially put that with the challenge cost as your initial cost?

@@LisaForexx For 25k, 3.5% would be $875 USD, but I wasn’t sure that was right-it is in proportion to the estimated $3500 in real money-you said a little over 3k if memory serves-that you recommended for the 100k account in your video. Not sure about this EA though; the licensing is on a subscription basis-does it work as an expense on a 25k challenge account? And I wonder if you could do the same thing taking the opposite side of the trade in your RM account with another EA over the prop firm account and you manually triggering the trades in the RM account. Less automated, but no annual license fees. I don’t think it works on a 25k account when you expense the recurring license costs.

@@ianforsyth2692, In general, for a 2 phase challenge you would need to have in your live account about 3x the cost of the challenge, and for a 1 phase challenge you would need 1.5x or 2x the cost of the challenge.

Not sure. The concept seems clever, but this probably is not my style. So much just to pass the challenge, if this becomes popular and people just go for first payout and then account is blown, then the prop firms are going to make changes as it is not sustainable for them.

Hi Lisa, I don't recommend doing this as I was BANNED on FTMO for using a similar hedging startegy. It's against thier TOS and they can detect which EA's you are using.

Thanks. You can adjust the strategy to take smaller trades instead of the big single trade. They can't detect if you use a trade copier, and mix up the magic numbers and comments

This is a nice idea, but unfortunately, it is does not have to work... Taking opposite side of losing trade, does not make it a winning trade unfortunately, both of your account can blow up, or market can hit both long and short stop losses before taking any profits. Also slippage, ask / bid and trading costs is not accounted for.

I think your math is wrong prop firms just give a refund on your first payout so if you fail in the funded stage you will be at negative 500usd

Just dont trade the first month on the funded stage and make the minimum of 100 dollars and play it safe so you get your refund. Then on the secound month you can trade normal.

It is a probabilyt game. Sometimes you'll win, sometimes you'll lose. I've managed to get myself 100k+ in funded accounts with this tool which I am still trading.

Guys be careful that your not breaching your terms on prop firms, technically hedging two different accounts is cheating in thier eyes.

Hedging may be a violation if it occurs on a prop firm account but this is not a prop firm account. And besides, how can they possibly know or care what transactions you are doing on your own "real" account when those transactions are not copied to their account? I don´t see any cause for concern, especially if you are separately running your own EAs.

agree. i doubt my broker sends all my trades to all the different prop firms for verification

If I'm not wrong, this is hedging/reverse trading which is prohibited across most prop firms (you should clarify with them first). Even though you're using a third party software and personal broker, this video is evidence that you're executing this strategy and they may flag you for violating their T&Cs. Just be careful.

Rubbish - it sounds very much like a cow boy job. (A.) you didn't tell us the $499 fees to buy this EA, so if you are break even, you lost $499 already and (B.) The monthly $25 cost of VPS. So when you say break even in 1st Phase then its $499+$25 and when you fail in seconds phase then it's $499+$25+$25. Instead you are providing your affiliate link so people will click and you make money. C'mon Lisa, have some respect for your subscribers, dont rip them off for an affiliate money.
