MV Madeleine II is a cruiseferry currently operated by the Canadian company Coopérative de Transport Maritime et Aérien (CTMA), previously known as MV VILLA DE TEROR under the ownership of the Spanish company Trasmediterránea. Originally intended for the Mariehamn-Kapellskär route, the ship was ordered by Viking Line under the project name VIKING ADCC (All-seasons Day Cruising and Commuting). However, due to delays, Viking Line cancelled the order, and the ship faced changes in ownership before entering service with Trasmediterránea as Villa de Teror in 2019. In 2020, the Government of Canada purchased the ship for $155 million to serve CTMA's routes to the Magdalen Islands until a newly-built vessel replaces it in 2026.
The design of VIKING ADCC was tailored for the short Mariehamn-Kapellskär service, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact. Construction began in 2007 at the Astilleros de Sevilla shipyard in Spain. However, the unfinished ship faced challenges and was eventually sold to Factorias Vulcano shipyard. Trasmediterránea signed an agreement to purchase the ship in 2017, but further delays occurred due to economic difficulties. The ship finally entered service in 2019 on the Motril-Nador and Motril-Al Hoceima routes.
In 2020, the Government of Canada acquired the vessel to replace MS MADELEINE on CTMA's route between Souris, Prince Edward Island, and Cap-aux-Meules in Quebec's Magdalen Islands. The ship was named MV MADELEINE II and served as an interim measure until a new vessel is scheduled to join the route in 2026.
The ship's interiors and design were modified for its various operators. VIKING ADCC's interior features were originally suggested through a competition organized by Viking Line, while Trasmediterránea made changes to the ship's architecture and interiors through Oliver Design, a Spanish company specializing in maritime design.
