As a default, the first step every fight attendant should take when addressed with a seating situation is to ask the complainer for their boarding pass. If they refuse to provide, escort them off the fight. If they provide, tell them to sit in the seat indicated on the boarding pass. Simple.

Reminds of that French video (movie scene?) where a white middle aged women was sat next to a black man and complained very openly right next to him about wanting to be moved. The flight attendant said economy was full and there was a seat in first class. This actually happened to me except the person just sat in my seat and refused to move. I had a window seat. When I insisted they move to their seat they suggested I take the aisle seat. I said no. At this point an aisle seat passenger comes over and gets angry that I’m being forced to take their seat. I insist the guy moves to his seat. He had a middle seat and had to sit uncomfortably the whole flight between me and another annoyed lady. The NERVE!

I saw a reddit post where OP and her mom were waiting for the plane to take off when a Karen came up and asked to switch seats and got angry when OP denied her. The Karen clicks the OPs call flight attendant(FA) button. FA - Is everything ok here Karen - I need this seat to be next to my family member, and she is refusing to move. My first time flying, I was 30 yrs old. My seat mates were very sweet to me. They gave me snacks, offered the window seat, and also gave me something for the motion sickness. At the end of the flight, they were friends. Of course they were frequent flyers but that's the best seat mates to get!

Had an aisle seat on an international flight. A woman and her sister boarded. The sister was in the opposite aisle seat , so the lady wanted my seat. Her seat was the interior seat right next to me. I weighed my options and knew they would talk right over me the whole time and be passive aggressive, so I moved. Turns out the guy that would have been in front of me reclined his seat the entire flight and there was no one sitting next to him, so I ended up with MORE room.

That's why I always put my tray table down as soon as we are allowed to. I had a man try to fly in my lap for five hours, luckily he was forced to sit up for take off and I was faster with my tray table then his reclining. He also thought he was entitled to keep closing my window shade. I enjoy looking out the window, that's why I pay extra for the window seat.
