Long story short, the Hoss concept is where the number 2 receiver runs a seam pattern, while the number 1 runs a hitch. This route combination is good to run against cover 3 - Theoretically, it would be good against Single High defenses because you would throw the hitch vs soft corners in cover 1 man - while against cover 1 press, the hitch should convert his route into a fade pattern {We have to hot route our hitches into fades when we see press looks}
The main purpose of this video was the beautiful insight given from the Patriots who would run "Hoss Y Juke" when Brady was with them.
Biggest thing to understand here, is that, whenever a defense is in a double high safety defense - your number 3 will get one on one matchups with mike linebacker. Thinking about this, why not put your shiftiest receiver at the number 3 to exploit that matchup?!
Or - why not attack the Mike linebacker in space with studs like A. Kamara in those instances knowing that he's matched up one on one with the linebacker.
Watch the video, and you will see why your understanding on a lot of passing plays in your playbooks will blossom after understanding this.

Using this is Madden 24, now the fade option and number 3 guy are all working. Great content, love it!

Wow really? This confirms why learning concepts are great because when Madden get things right, you'll be money. You'll also know when and why something isn't working right.

I completely agree with you in terms of matching your defensive personnel with your opponents offensive personnel. However, there are times where if you are deficient on the defensive side of the ball, you need to pick one aspect of offense to stop therefore you need to stick to one defensive personnel group regardless of what the offensive is doing, especially in Madden. For example, if your Nickel or dime defense gets completely cooked in the running game when your opponent has 3 to 4 WRs on the field and on top of that your DBs don’t do a great job at matching with your opponents WRs in man coverage, you are better off just keeping your base defense on the field to stop the run and playing Zone defense in passing situations.

Man, I hope you do return and make some videos again, still, after 1 year I come back to these videos to remember the concepts and not the cheesy money plays you will see 99% of the time. I still destroy most people with what I learned here on this channel.

Hoss concept seems like a subpar concept to use when you can have a snag or stick concept on the strong side, and a double slant or salem concept on the weak side.

Mr Xando, As a former tenured professor, and Head of the Music department at UGA, I can tell you from experience that you are one of the best educators I've been able to find when it come to Madden 21. I'm embarrassed to ask a favor (or better yet some guidance) being over 60 and a former HS coach in Georgia. I assumed I knew it all, or could at least figure it out. Boy was I wrong. Bad info in = Bad info out. I am disabled with tonic clonic seizures (severe epilepsy - CSD) and would like to get some advice from you (I'm willing to pay when my Social Security Disability check gets here on the 3rd of December, so we can wait until then) I don't need a lot of your time, just some guidance and clarification. With my disability, this is all I'm able to do and have wasted so much money on playbooks, e- books and private lessons, I feel lost. Sir, the bottom line is, I only have one grandson who wants me to play this game with him, but I hate his pity even though I knows it's out of love. I don't want to post my questions on your comment section because I've received some very discouraging and outright mean spirited.replys. If I give you my secondary email, and if you decide that you'd at least be able to help me out or guide me to someone who can, you can email me and I'll give you all of my contact info. I know your busy, so, I'll thank you in advance, even if you don't have the time right now. Keep up the good work. Have a nice one, Nutty_Professor nuttytater@gmail.com
