Join us as we tour the interior of our Passport 42. She's from 1986, hull #47 built in Taiwan. This boat was built to cross oceans and we live and cruise on her full time. We've refitted many systems on board since 2017 but the interior layout and design has gone un changed. Interior teak is made from 80's era Burmese teak and has held up beautifully. We didn't show off the engine we currently have due to our full electric propulsion system being installed in May. Hi guys. Great tour of a practical arrangement. It's clear you've applied real experience with how you operate her. Not sure where you are now on your electric repower. I repowered my brewer 12.8 with an electric yacht system. If you want perspective (all positive) on how it has worked for a vessel of similar vintage and displacement, feel free to reach out.

Greetings from Tucson, Arizona. I luv your boat! It is quite beautiful and the galley is among the best I've seen since my 'search' began last year. I'm getting ready to sell my house and set sail to the South Pacific and Passport is at the top of the list. I'm intrigued 'bout your conversion and looking forward to future episodes.

Thanks, she has treated us very well the past 6 years. We have a small garbage van & recycling reusable bag that are secured just to starboard of the companionway stairs. Pretty much just below the cabinet with our foul weather gear.

Love this and love your channel! For the past 9 years I've kept a Catalina 470 in San Francisco (Oyster Point > Emeryville > Treasure Island > Central Basin). As I'm almost done with my refit but haven't gone full Lithium yet, I'm curious: how much battery are you planning on? And how much solar are you packing? These are the last pieces of the puzzle before I leave this year.

Hey thanks! Man we love our LiFePO4 bank. We’ll definitely have more details about the systems onboard asap. Currently the boat is having open heart surgery, chainplates are being replaced here in MX. For our 12v system we have a 600ah bank and 820 watts of solar. This has allowed us to be off shore power for over a year with ease. We help fellow cruisers navigate project and electrical upgrades. Thank you for this video. It's the best interior review I have seen. I have been aboard a Slocum 43 and really appreciate the attention to detail that Huntingford put into this design (nearly the same vessel, with a few differences). How do you find sailing her in the PNW - light wind sailing, windward performance, etc.? Along the BC south coast, the winds are so variable and often light. I'd love to hear about how you manage that in a heavy displacement cruiser (the SA/D value for the Passport is just a bit better than the Slocum's). Also, I noticed that your galley layout is a bit different than other 42's I've looked at online - you have a peninsula opposite the nav station that I haven't seen before. Was this a feature of particular years?

Thanks! and good eye with the questions. Gemini has a one off interior from the factory. The commissioning owners moved the bulkheads back by almost 2 feet, which opened up the salon and made the galley huge. The aft berth is slightly smaller so the door folds in half to open fully. The rig is the taller high aspect version but with the heavy displacement we still need a lot of sail area for the PNW sailing. With our 120% jib, staysail and main we've been comfortable down here in Mexico. To add to the sail collection we have a nylon drifter, asymmetrical and symmetrical spinnaker. The most important factor for light wind is a super clean bottom and feathering prop!

Hi. Your boat is beautiful. We own a Texas built 1991 Valiant 40. I've been researching stoves to replace our original Broadwater and I am very interested in the Gn Espace. The cost is substantial. Do you feel that the stove is worth the expense? I watched your earlier review of the Dickinson. Thanks for that as I was considering one but didn’t realized all its shortcomings. Appreciate any feedback on your Gn Espace.
