Thanks to your apple tutorial I’ve started up again for the first time in about 20 years. I’ve only done the illustrations for my children’s books, which I do enjoy, it’s just not the same thing. Finally made this picture of one little apple that gave me the confidence to pick up where I left off. Thank you so much!

Great tutorial and that's a great idea using a black pencil with the dark brown. As long as the values are similar and they're both oil based pastel or whatever. It should be successful

Hi there! Absolutely loving this tutorial- I'm halfway through! I was wondering if you can give me the name of the colors you used for the dark brown of the main trees and the grey/brown tree highlights. I don't seem to have comparable colors in my pastel set so I think I may go out and buy those two specific rembrandt ones. I tried to use a reddish brown for the tree and a cream for the highlight but it's just not coming out exactly right. Thanks so much!

I haven't even cracked open my first box of soft pastels - is this a project that a "newbie" would be able to tackle? And do you ever use a fixative to preserve your pastel paintings? Thank you for this - while you say it is "simple" - it is gorgeous.

sir , i am using white norway sheet , i have done the sky, but now when i was making grass and the ground stuff that was not working , because my sheet is plane and ur have texture is there anything i can do?

Hi Nicole, The brand of pastel pencils I'm using are General's Pastel Chalk pencils.

admire your work as you, I love pastels but need help handling the chalk "crumbs" w/out smearing them, if that makes since. I also tend to be bothered by the dust, After investing in a set of pastels a few years ago I try to work with them. I've done mostly portraits w them but want to try still life.

Yes, it's 160 gsm or 98 lb.
