Ben Zand spends time with Guatemala’s huge evangelical community. Visiting a Guatemalan million dollar mega-church, and meeting Cash Luna - one of the most famous pastors in Central and South America, and one of the wealthiest. Cash Luna runs Casa de Dios, one of the world’s biggest churches. Ben also meets Pastor Sanchez, from the town of Almolonga. Almolonga is famous for the story of transformation, where God blessed its giant carrots and vegetables, saving people from poverty. Both men claim they have the ability to heal, and that the story of Almolonga’s carrots is true - but is all as it seems?

Nonna D exactly these “pastors” are taking advantage of the poor. A real Christian wouldn’t live an expensive life style, instead they would use that money to build more churches, build more hospitals, help the sick, or help the poor. It’s truly so sad to see this happening

Ben Zand failed to inform that most of the population in Almolonga are rich. The trucks that these mayan people drive are Mercedez Benz, trucks that they use to deliver their produce. Those huipiles that women wear, are around $200.00 each. So the pastor is rich because his church is richer. There are not poor people in Almolonga. That is the greatness of the mayan people, they look so humble, even though many of them are millionars. Another fact that you forgot to mention mr. Zand.

md, please show us proof of your claim that most of the people in Almolonga are rich. I am from Quetzaltenango, 3km away and I strongly dissagree. I am Mayan and sure have money but not most people in Almolonga are rich. Please provide evidence. Los güipiles are expensive but we mayans wear them according to social statuss and there are Güipiles for poor people. As for the religion well, sadly my country is full of these so called prophets. I am Guatemalan. I don't attend any of this churches but I think, and this is my personal opinion, in one way I feel like this was a bit unrespectful. The fact that someone from another country visits my country and talks about it and about how everything is wrong and puts everything under bad terms is not new. Religion is a very sensitive topic but of course there is nothing wrong on sharing opinions as long as everyone respects each other. Anyways, it is all a matter of opening up to what people have to offer, to what a culture has to offer. Thank you for visiting Guatemala and I hope you had the chance to enjoy your trip!

The translations were very disingenuous. When the pastor was speaking of people watching the film being healed, he did NOT say that everyone would be healed, or that everyone in the world will be changed by the video. I don't mind questioning in an interview, but the twisting of his words made this film extremely biased.

I strongly agree with your comment. The comments of Mr. Zand were not true at all. Example: Mr. Zand said people give "donations" and "people give all they can to get a miracle or get richer." Neither Cash Luna or anyone else was implying this AT ALL in the film, so Mr. Zand just added his OWN thought and OPINIONS. The word "Donation" is used out of context. It is not donations, it is Tithe and Offerings. This is not Ok because it damages Mr. Luna's character and the whole idea of what it is to follow Christ. I also want to add that i do not follow Cash Luna, however, this does not stop me from recognizing that Mr. Zand made mistakes in this film.

Daniela Arriaza the Bible says in Malachi 3 that when you give your offering to God, God will open the floodgates of heaven and pour out blessings. That doesn’t mean 10x more money then you gave, God isn’t a slot machine in a casino. That means blessings in all areas of your life. Relationships, career, family, and more. God wants people not to trust in their money but to trust that He is the provider that He promised He would be. Giving your tithe tests if your confidence is in yourself and your money, or in God.

It has really stuck with me because I recently lost my only sister suddenly, she was my best friend, I adored her and I miss her, but I'm ok. I have hope in Jesus now and hope that I'll see her again. I do get sad don't get me wrong but it doesn't grip me like when I was depressed. TheMartindigo: I agree with you that the pastors are bad to live such expensive lifestyles in the midst of poverty. As a Christian, I am ashamed of them. But I am mainly concern that the claim for miracles by the ordinary peasants should be checked by him. He could had visited those peasants that claimed to have been healed, talked to their doctors and hospitals and confirm whether the miracles are true or false. There are thousands of healing testimonies that are very credible and true. Here is one of the many: TESTIMONY OF ALAN MOORE WITH FULL DOCUMENTED PROOFS He had suffered a major stroke in his right cerebral hemisphere. And was attended by Dr. Krishnababu Chunduri, MD of Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. This testimony comes with complete documented proofs to a miracle with MRA and MRI scans. It also recorded Dr. Chunduri who treated him at hospital and Dr. Alling who was his primary physician stating that a miracle has happen. Below are parts of the testimony: Doctors continued to deliver the grim news of their observations to Debbie, sharing that Alan was paralyzed on the left side of his body, he could not swallow or speak, and that he had lost his peripheral vision. However Debbie was not shaken. In fact, Alan’s neurologist, Dr. Chunduri was worried that she wasn’t taking him seriously. “She didn’t flinch-she didn’t seem to understand,” he said. On day four, after his many visitors had left his room, Alan decided he needed to use the restroom. Taking no notice of the tubes connected to him, he simply got out of bed. As his feeding tube, catheter, intravenous tubes and heart monitor fell off, warning bells began to sound and nurses rushed into the room. They wanted to know how Alan had gotten to the bathroom. “I walked here,” Alan explained. Quite taken aback, the nurses felt obligated to inform Alan that he couldn’t walk- this was news to Alan. Dr. Chunduri was so confounded by Alan’s recovery that he wanted to perform another MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and another MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiography) to be sure his initial diagnosis had been correct. The second set of tests revealed that indeed Alan had suffered a major stroke, and this further solidified that Alan is a walking miracle. To this day Dr. Chunduri doesn’t understand Alan’s recovery. “He made a miraculous recovery, and I can’t explain that,” Dr. Chunduri said. Dr. Chunduri showed Alan the large massive stroke that he had, and he said to him “All I can says is, your head (damaged brain) does not match your body (what you can do with your physical body). I don’t understand it, I don’t understand anything about it, but your head does not match your body.” Dr. Jeff Alling, MD, Decatur, Texas confirmed that is was a genuine miracle. ALSO, IN THIS WEBSITE ARE MANY MORE SPECTACULAR HEALING TESTIMONIES THAT ARE FAR MORE GREATER THAN THAT OF ALAN MOORE. Please see: www.awmi.net/video/healing/moore/

This documentary opened my eyes to the fact that some people just want to live a happy lie, rather than a really sad truth. I did not realize the magnitude of how religion or any dogmatic beliefs can lead millions of people to self-harm, just because they are afraid to face the truth and question the pastor's beliefs. EVEN THE INTERVIEWER, WHO HAD NO DEEP TIES WITH THE PASTOR FELT HOW UNCOMFORTABLE IT WAS TO QUESTION HIM! Imagine someone who is smart enough to see this but ignore it because the pastor is the uncle, neighbor, cousin, or best friend. This documentary really made me consider carefully about who to listen to and moved me to start being skeptical about everyone and everything.

I'm glad you are skeptical, but I'm also glad that you reined in your antagonism after you saw their hospitality. If you are going to do investigative reporting, it is much more important that you give THE FACTS rather than your skeptical opinion. In this video, it was obvious that you were not paying close attention to what was being done or said and were even putting words in people's mouths based on your antagonistic perspective. FYI, when an Evangelical Christian becomes "born again", he/she is basically starting a new life from a different perspective. If God is as awesomely good as we say He is, then the born again believer is just starting to move in a much better direction. Becoming a mature follower of Jesus, is something that transpires over time as God works in the person's heart and the person is willing to be teachable. To begin such a journey, I must decide that God, in His perfect goodness, loves me in spite of my imperfections, and that He has made a way for me to have a friendship with Him based on what He Himself has done for me on the cross. I will pray that the pastors in this video continue on the road to maturity, but honestly, I suspect that they are doing a much better job than you give then credit for. In friendship, Joe B. P.S. A perfect diet may extend physical life, but joining with the creator of life, extends life forever (by His grace).

Why everyone can't see then everything is possible with God,? I have an answer for you. 1 Corinthians 2 14 Whoever does not have the spirit cannot receivethe gifts that come from God's Spirit. Such a person really does not understand them, to be nonsense, because their value can be judged only on a spiritual basis.

In a church, ..Giving tithes and offerings is biblical... this is act of obedience in faith.. men who don't believe will always try to rationalize miracles saying it happened because of xyz.. why not just believe that God can do it ?

Daniel Pacheco offerings, I agree. They are essential for the sustainability of the church. The church being the members. Not the building. Now, can you provide a verse in the New Testament that backs your statement that “tithes” are biblical ?
@user-xv7eb5ct9f
@user-xv7eb5ct9f 6 жыл бұрын
In the Old Testament you can find it in Deuteronomy 14:22 in the New Testament Matthew 6:21 says "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." When you are able to give 10% or more of your income instead of keeping that money for yourself, it shows that your heart isn't tied to your money but that we love God more than money. The most important thing is the attitude of your heart towards God, so if you have to give then you are blessed to give. Believe that God will bless you as you give then you will act upon that fact. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
@Darvineb86
@Darvineb86 6 жыл бұрын
2 Corinthians 9:7 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. I agree, your offerings should be given wholeheartedly , but no where in the New Testament , after Christ fulfilled the law, does it say you HAVE to give 10 %. You give what you can. And the offerings are meant to be distributed among the members of the church, certainly not to the pastor, in this case Mr. Cash Luna, to hoard and live a lavish lifestyle.

I am from El Salvador, I think before showing the actual state of Casa de Dios, you should also look out for their story. Amazing story of perseverance and of God's blessings, they didn't build a big church out of nothing, there's a big story of love and sacrifice from all parts. There are also a lot of big churches in Guatemala, because there's a lot of evangelical people, and also while there's a lot of poverty there's a lot of wealth in some areas as well. The tune you were asking is call : Casa de Dios by Danilo Montero, it's a song based on Psalm 84, and it not their own "theme song" it's was a worship song that they took for their church because it ressembled so well and it actually matched the name of their church. Almolonga has a great story of transformation, and commitment in faith. Must of our farmers are that simple farmers without any education, and most of our vegetables come from common people. Following simple rules of fertilizers and pesticides, but we don't get vegetables that size here in El Salvador, and we have pretty much the same conditions, same poverty, same crops, same people growing vegetables. If you actually don't believe in God, then it's pretty much useless to acknowledge something you don't believe in, you should dig more deeply into the stories and you will find that there is a God who is great, good and faithful.
