And she says no short dresses "in God's house" but anywhere two or more people join together to worship is technically the Lord's house" so it really is a silly idea. I understand wanting her daughter to be mindful of the venue but a short dress isn't automatically inappropriate when you consider the different lengths of wedding dresses. A tea length dress for example, falls between the knee and lower calf or ankle.

Personally for me I do have certain rules for outfits in a church setting (service and wedding wise) . If you are sitting in the pues I think it's fine to wear what you want. After all come as you are. Respect comes with growth and looks differently for everyone. But when infront of the alter when attention is on Me. I chose to cover the majority of my shoulders and wear skirts that reach below My knee even when climbing stairs (which we have) or pants. Its not something imposed on me but a personal decision. So my bridesmaids would wear something longer and with straps for a church ceremony. They respect my opinion and values which I appreciate so much.

The short dresses were hardly 'short'. Each of them covered the knees, which is, even by old fashioned definition, not 'short'. As others have mentioned, does the sister wear floor length clothing all the time? Or even just to church? That doesn't seem likely. This young bride will hopefully be more assertive as she matures.

Definitely. When I heard her talking about wanting short dresses and the reaction that got, I was expecting that the bride wanted like barely covering booty dresses. Those covered their knees, they needed to calm tf down

@@AkireMaru I'm obviously *not* the person who needs to tell her what to wear in order to be in her sister's wedding ~ but *someone* needs to tell her that a loved one's wedding isn't ABOUT her own personal discomfort for a few hours. The sister was very aggressive in dictating what *everyone else* should be wearing, due to her own preferences. I disagree with her having bulldozed her little sister into caving. Not to mention, the chosen dress was (in my opinion) a dumpster fire next to one of the other, much classier dresses, that came well below the knee and which would have flattered any figure. 'Genius'.

The only difference between the long dress and the one next to it was the length. The sister looked like the lower half of her body was drowning whereas the girl next to her looked amazing and still very covered so to the length of the skirt. If her sister was truly uncomfortable then why was she so comfortable letting her cleavage hang out? I think she just had her mind set on one type of dress and decided she was going to get what she wanted.

I agree. Sometimes the bridesmaid short is really short. Like we're afraid if they bend over we'll see "the goods". But what these ladies were wearing were very attractive and modest.

they should try the short/hi-lo/long arrangement from the two grooms' wedding, so the ones who want to wear long dresses can wear long dresses and there's still a cohesive visual line among the bridal party.

Woo, another episode of "Not Your Wedding!" The first one: I understand a lot of Christian churches wanna be nice and formal (I come from one and I worn short dresses with tights or leggings. My family are chill!) but like it's literally the bride's wedding. Glad the bride stood her ground choosing two dresses for the two bridesmaids and letting her annoying sister wear the long one. Honestly I would gave the maid of honor to one of the bridesmaids as punishment loll 🌸✨ Short dresses aren't inappropriate unless it's way too short understandable.

Depends on a lot. Its more common in southern states to be married younger. Its also more common to have church weddings. They may have known each other their whole lives and are madly in love

Pick the short dress you like, add a capelet or shrug or some top that will suffice for the Church and be removed for the reception. That's what we did in the 1950s and 1960s.

My preference for skirt length is a midi, just a couple inches longer than the knee. But I would wear a dress to the knee as long as my shoulders were covered as well. And I'm saying that as a devoted LDS member where we are careful with our modesty. Those weren't too short

18??? My daughter 18. And I thought we indian family love our daughter to get marry so young. She is going to college this year. I am sorry. But, too young to marry. This generation children have no responsabilities. First argument will walk out. Not like us try work things out. I am not surprise she wants to get married and move out. Her Mom being Pastor must be strict and she see marriage probably as ticket to freedom and do as she please. However, marriage not like that. Her she is right. We go to place of worship. We guests of God. So, if we go someone else home we dress appropriate as they do.

No offense (well maybe some cause I’m triggered from past trauma) but you should not let religion dictate ANYTHING. Religion will never tell me what to wear.
