Recent headlines such as, a pastor of the Soshanguve Church, has come under fire for allegedly using unconventional methods of having congregation members strip and then stepping on them to preach as well as other pastors letting them eat grass, snakes and drink petrol.
In order to address the issue, the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Religious and Linguistic Communities (CLR) has summoned nearly 40 churches to appear before the committee in Gauteng in November 2015. The summons was triggered by Pastors who claimed to heal and cure many illnesses and who also promised riches to people who joined their churches.
To tell us more about the churches being summonsed, we have Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva the Commission Chairperson of CLR or The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Religious and Linguistic Communities joining us in studio.

Aowa Mme, being a pastor aint a profession. The pastors are not professionals, but shepherds of God's flock. Bothata ke gore ba re tjeela our monies that we hardly sweat for ka leina la Modimo le morwa, Jesu. Religious movements or denominations should be closely governed in a practical fashion.

May pastors wake up and not sell God's sheep to the goernment for money If the church is registeted with the governent, it's now a corporation and they have to obey tbe contract or they will be sued

People want to sit in beautiful churches and have blessings from these pastors and donnot want to GIVE , i think it selfish of the people there are scriptures in the bible that say we muat take care of them gallatians6:6 , Hebrew13:17 there are many ...take care of your pastors don't exploit them they carry a very heavy duties concerning peoples lives ,well-being, health, spiritual wellfare and so fought something not even the government supplies so please ..BLACK MENTALITY MUST FALL

Everybody must eat from his sweats, The Levites, were the only people to be looked after by the congregants. Who will bring tithes every Sunday, every week every month, church celebrations, birthdays, welfare for this and that, oh!!! It's endless, two hour talk about tithes or offerings, and intimidating, when you don't give. GIVING MUST BE FROM ONE'S HEART, AND MUST BE DONE WILLINGLY, NOT PUSHED.
