While it probably seems humorous to some atleast, I think this line however just seems to indicate Inverted Mickey coming to achieve more self-awareness about it's existence and how it didn't seem previously aware the costume looked like a mouse but now realizing it. Which goes back to the sad fact that it thinks it's human, but isn't entirely aware or knows of all what's going on involving its existence at first neither even knows what it even represents with the costume looking like the iconic mouse.

Imagine that. You're suddenly born, believing yourself to be a regular employee at a theme park, wearing a mascot costume. You are convinced that you are human, so much so that your mind is even out of sync with your breathing. And after clambering to try and take off that big costume for who knows how long, it suddenly hits you: You haven't been trying to take off a costume. You ARE the costume. You're not human. And with that realization, I can't imagine how much it must break that costume.

Yeah sincerely- I feel like this is the most depressing and saddest part of this entire story. Enough so- that it makes feel a little bad for PhotoNegative Mickey as it seriously thought it was human before and upon realizing it wasn't- ... I can only imagine how breaking that thought must of been enough to go down into an existential spiral. I even question if it ever accepted it's existence or really come to understand much of it.

@@riskingrain1560 That was exactly my thought as well. The first thing I thought was, "What was it like for the costume? How did the realization impact it? How would you react in its situation, having to come to terms with the fact that you're nothing but a living costume?"

You know there is Another series of Disney creepy Pasta's that start with one called the gateway to hell and eventually in those stories it builds up on the abandoned by Disney story, Basically the photo negative Mickey is a demon created by a man Who we are led to believe might be Walt Disney himself
@riskingrain1560

@@BrianSmith-jx7td Not trying to sound rude or anything, but that sounds pretty uninteresting to me compared to the original series. I mean I've already had my share of been scared by related religious imagery and beliefs, but I think Disney and demonic activity- are poor combination honestly for horror. The entire plot line sounds basic as well with PN Mickey simply explained as being a demon and might as well been summoned by Uncle Walt himself- even though that totally doesn't sound kind of controversial to do.

I think this one comment has driven home for me why horror tends to resonate with queer and/or neurodivergent audiences. I’ve never been a horror fan myself (in fact I’m currently kicking myself for listening to this video because I have a sneaking suspicion I’ll be having some nightmares tonight-lol) but the way you just described Photonegative Mickey slowly coming to the realization that it’s not human reminded me a lot of my experience growing up with undiagnosed ADHD and autism, and eventually discovering those facets of myself. I realized I’d felt so isolated from my peers growing up because, in a fundamental way, I WAS different from many of them. You’ve really made something click in my brain here-I still don’t think I’ll ever be a horror buff myself, but I think I get what draws others to the genre much better now! :D

As horrifying as PN Mickey is, imagine how bad things must be from HIS perspective: Imagine - you're supposed to be a friendly mascot for an amusement park, and almost from the beginning you sense something is wrong. The costume you're wearing is hot, itchy and hard to breathe in. You can barely move, and it feels like you're sinking through the floor. You feel painful sores all over your body from where the costume is rubbing against your skin. It smells horrible, like bile and something rotten, and the colors are wrong. And when you try to remove it, just to get a bit of reprieve, it will not come off. And the more you scratch and claw and struggle, the tighter it becomes. So, you write suggestion cards, dozens of them, hoping someone, anyone, will help you, or at least give you answers. But no one does. In fact, it seems like the other employees are going out of their way to avoid you or pretend you don't exist. Then one day, you realize something. You aren't wearing a costume; you ARE the costume. That's your head you're pulling at, your skin you're scratching at. You're a sentient, animate mascot costume. And it brings you no relief, because the itching, the pain, the suffocation, the confusion - it all still remains. And as you look out at the other mascots, you wonder - is this what it's like for them? Are they suffering like I am? And you decide, if you can't help yourself, you can at least help them. One spree later, and all the costumes are where they belong, all neatly hung up on hooks, safe and sound. Oh sure, there was a lot of screaming and struggling at first, and they were pretty heavy to carry, but you think they understood you were trying to help in the end. Everything is now calm and quiet. Peaceful. But then you notice that there's no hook for you. And when you try to go back outside, you realize you've been locked inside the building. So with nothing else to do, you go back to the costume room and lie down on the floor. And as you lay there, alone in the dark with your thoughts, you wander why you exist. What is your purpose? Why are you in constant pain, full of bile and pus and rot? Why do you not have a hook of your own? Do you even belong there? If not, then where DO you belong? And if you don't belong anywhere, them why were you made? Who made you? Why did they make you? Where did they go? Why did they...abandon you?

Well..... that's fucked up AND horrifying. I don't know what it is about this fear, but supernatural creatures committing acts of violence due to innocent intent and lack of information really scares me. Because in their mind, they genuinely believe they are helping you. And don't understand what they are doing is scary and dangerous. And no matter how much you squirm and scream to fight them off, they are just attacking and killing you. And while they do so, they are probably thinking... *"Why are they not letting me help them?"*

Fun fact: Mickey Mouse themed gas masks were real. Around 1942, mid-way through WWII, Walt Disney actually had gas masks developed in the shape of his prized mascot as the war was on going and the threat of gassing was high. The masks were made mostly to be used for children, as a way to keep them calm.

iirc, there were also two different Mickey Mouse gas masks, one was simply colored brightly, and shaped normally (I assume the name was just for positive connotation). the other was shaped more like the mouse mask (with slight 'ears' and a droopy nose piece), although the resemblance is still just in passing. neither truly looked like the mask you'd think, but both were made for children to make the idea of wearing a gas mask more appealing.

@@doomguy4522 tbh I'd much rather see those on a kid than the GP-5 mask, those are creepy enough to be referenced in pop culture. The Soviet GP-5 did in fact come in child sizes, given it's status as a civilian issued mask. They're also stupidly common, with 3 times the Soviet population being made until the year 1990. odds are you can get a real surplus one for under 30 USD, so you'd have a much higher chance of seeing them in an actual scenario. It's neat to me, so many masks, made for an attack that never happened. Forever unused, they float around collectors as a morbid reminder of what could've been. I got two! Edit: Note; if you do want to get one for yourself, be sure to check product descriptions. The original filter that came with the mask has been linked to asbestos. Usually sellers will put a newer version of the filter without the fault instead, but rarely the original is used. Product description will tell you if they switched it out. Cosplay versions of the mask exist as well. despite being around the same price as real ones, they have no protection and kinda are exaggerated for effect. Sadly they are sometimes listed under the same name without clarification in the title. so be sure to verify. Also Edit: wording

"costumes are heavy with people inside, and there's no hook left for me." Is such an ominous, heavy line, and also gives a clear image of what happened leading up to the events that happened in the room that our protagonist in Abandoned By Disney found. Photonegative Mickey began killing people, for reasons unclear. Perhaps it was enraged by the realization it was a walking costume, or perhaps it felt it had to treat everyone in the park like it was itself, a walking costume with no human life inside. Maybe it wanted to feed its own power, traumatizing more and more guests and employees alike, similar to the trauma that was its birth. Regardless, it kept the bodies in the costumes, perhaps a nod to how dead performers were meant to be kept inside their costumes until someone could pick up the guests. Regardless, this resulted in the Donald head with the skull within. And there wasn't a hook to keep itself; it was never a part of the park, and the hooks were all taken by the real costumes. So it flopped lifeless to the floor.

my guess was that PNM assumed that what he was going through was what every other actor was going through. the actors are always silent, so it's not like he can hear them talk casually and know that their costume is normal. everyone in the park is oblivious to his suffering because he can't call out for help. otherwise he'll lose his job. and it sounds like for a good while that PNM looked like a regular costume and that this happened over a course of days, maybe even weeks, before he became one with the costume. even if an actor screams when he attacks them, that's not enough to prove to him that they aren't in the same situation as him. if anything he can easily convince himself that it's because of the sores that they have. I only say that because "no hook left for me" sounds like he thinks that everyone wants to be on a hook. I'm assuming that being on one of the hooks would put PNM out of his misery. since otherwise he wouldn't care that all the hooks are taken. he'd probably instead say "and I'm out of hooks" to say that he has nowhere to store the bodies. well that and he's not really hostile in the original? the author runs out of the place but PNM doesn't even bother to chase him. he just stays where he is. I assumed that he took off his head to scare the author, but now that I'm thinking about it since he seemed to be consumed by the costume to the point that he wasn't himself anymore, going as far as to say "I'm a mouse" I'm wondering if he was still after all these years, performing for an audience. since "wanna see my head come off?" is usually said before you do a magic trick to entertain someone. food for thought. food for thought. tbh it's likely that that was the intention. actors have to be silent at all times. unless you play a princess or Gaston, you can't talk. not even if it could be an emergency. if someone is hitting you or might break a part of your suit, you can't say anything. you have to try and either ignore them, or somehow signal for them to stop. which is uhhh definitely gonna be hard when you can't use the stop hand signal because part of your job is giving high fives. if someone is in danger, you can't yell to get help. you have to try and signal for help. you can't even use grunts to get a security guards attention. you have to be totally silent the entire time you're working. which ... yeah. obviously is very frustrating and probably has messed people up who tried to signal for help when someone was in danger but nobody paid attention, even if the person was okay. so I mean to me it'd make sense that even when PNM is in agony, he'd stay silent. and just *hope* that someone helps him take off the costume after seeing his cards. because if he speaks to ask for help, he'll probably lose his job. he's still on the clock, after all. bc it seemed like PNM was still that poor employee for a long time, still had all those memories and thoughts, until he just became the costume. though who knows maybe the employee is still in there. somewhere. and is still aware. and just decided to speak because the place is abandoned who's gonna get mad at him. (then again the way he behaved in the original makes me think that he can't feel the pain anymore. it's just his reality now.(

I initially scoffed at the idea of Abandoned by Disney being considered anything more than just a dime-a-dozen "mascot horrror" / "scary cartoon" story, but with the knowledge of the other stories, the corruptus, the vomit, the sores, the metaphysicality and power that iconography holds in this story's world ... wow, that's crazy scary and madly creative. As someone who had a dad AND his parents who worked for Disney, this creepypasta makes it feel all the more real. I recall a story my father told me, it goes something along the lines of: "I remember me and my father working in the Hall of presidents. I always hated being there just for the fact that it's so unnerving to see such a realistic looking animatronic of someone who has been dead for centuries. But one day, we were making sure the animatronics were clean and styled properly and worked in order; I kept hearing voices and felt as if i was being watched...The older the animatronics were, the more eerie it got. I began to see things that no one else could, then...when we got to working on (I forget which president it was), it started moving on its own, it began talking to us, saying thank you and please get out. I swore to never walk in that place ever again.." With hearing all the stories of how eerie things got, poor treatment to the staff, and even some things occurring that you could swear were figments of the imagination...yet many people saw them at the same time. I can't help but feel more creeped out reading these stories..it gives me a shiver down my spine each time.

The “I am a mouse” statement is both hilarious, and legitimately terrifying. In one way of thinking it, if you had no idea this was Photo-Negative Mickey talking, then it just sounds like a very ridiculous and out of place statement. But looking at it from the perspective that Photo Negative Mickey wrote it, it’s like him coming to grips that he now knows he’s a costume, instead of thinking he’s a human in a costume, inverting the interpretation of the statement completely on its head.

Maybe the faceless kids are the kids who go missing at Disney? Like everyone knows it happens but they don't think of what the kids look like. You just know and think it happens. Kids are bound to go missing in a theme park that big, but people don't deep dive who the kids were or how many so that turns into a bunch of faceless children roaming Disney. And they are possibly influenced by the fear and confusion of actual children who get lost and some never found. But i'm not sure about the employee killing them signifies.

I was surprised when you attributed the yellow liquid to vomit. It makes a lot of sense given the context of everything. Originally, when you were quoting some of the suggestions most likely left by the Inverted Mickey, it talked about being covered in sores, that everything was sores and the sores were sticking to the inside of the costume. That brought me to a different conclusion, being someone on the outside who doesn’t know the story as well. Skip this if you’re squeamish because I’ll elaborate what I thought initially below: Before I knew Inverted Mickey was a Corruptus, my immediate thought was that the yellow liquid was pus, oozing from the infected sores on the body that was stuck inside of the suit. As it clawed and twisted and ripped its head off, the sores were bursting and dripping out pus in a horrifying and disgusting display. The visual of being an employee, forced to get into a costume every day that was so unsanitary inside that it was causing your skin to break out in sores all over was awful. And, adding onto that, as the employee was sweating in the costume throughout the day, the inside fabric was sticking to them, making the infection caused from the unsanitary conditions and how it rubbed against their skin even worse. Imagine at the end of the day, trying to take your mascot suit off and feeling the delicate skin of the sores on your body ripping with each movement. The agony. The desperation of wanting to get the suit off of you as soon as possible, but it feels practically glued to your skin. You just want to get out, to go home, to take a shower, treat those awful sores, but it feels like the costume is stuck. Every little jerk and pull done as you try to remove it is so incredibly painful and makes you feel so disgusting, perhaps even humiliated because of it. And what’s even worse: even when you get the costume off, your ordeal isn’t over. You can’t afford to quit your job. You *have* to come back into work tomorrow and put the suit on again. Even with some of your sores bandaged now, the rest of your skin is still exposed, still rubbing up against that disgusting fabric. Hence Inverted Mickey mentioning that everything was sores. Sores covering so much of your skin, sores that would just get infected again despite the bandages because you’re drenched in sweat by the end of the day. That visual and concept is both unbelievably vile and absolutely heartbreaking. Of course, the Corruptus isn’t an employee playing a mascot, but imagine if it felt like that. If that experience was its constant feeling - that agony, that desperation, that hopelessness. Truly, what an awful existence that would be, all because of Disney’s gross neglect.

it's also possible that the employees are younger folk, who may be going through hormonal shifts or have genetic conditions that result in acne. i'd wager that having fabric rubbing up against open sores on your face / body (you can get acne anywhere, it just needs to be skin) would be massively unsanitary and could probably contribute to pus stains being on the fabric, as well as contributing to Photonegative Mickey's blood looking a bit like pus.

this was my first thought when i first got to the part when it was talking about the sores, i feel like either vomit or pus would make sense for it, though due to the "blood" being chunky as well, vomit is probably the more accurate answer, but im glad to see i wasnt the only person to think that lol

Tbh i first thought that when the coruptus said that there are sores and later that all of him is sores ( hence the sores spreading) he was talking about decomposicion. Like being stuck in a rotting body. I asume the oposit of yellow is purple cause its on the oposit side of the color weel, and so i thought the blood was purple whitch also tied in with the decomposicion thing because in a dead body the blood doesn't have any oxigen anymore and turns purple and chunky. Of course this is only in the first stages of decomposicion, so it wouldn't make sence if it was left there in an abandoned park for years. But then again it reminded me of a torchured spirit stuck in a suit so maybe it got stuck in the first stagrs of decomposicion? But now that i know it's a coruptus everything makes more sence. Btw fun fact: rotting in your body while you're alive is a very much real thing that can happen and it's called acute radiation sickness. Considering the nature of corrupti such as Photonegative Mickey, I'd say it would be more like an _anti-nuke._ Instead of a hot, bright artificial sun, instead a cold, dark void was instantly created from the hysteria of a nonexistant nuclear strike.
@G-Cole-01

Another sort of idea I have about that is on how it only affected that room, and not the whole park, as with a normal nuke. As a corruptus is supposed to be a physical manifestation of a bunch of people's thoughts, the anti-nuke was only created from the thoughts of the people in that room. However, when such an anti-nuke immediately detonated, it obviously instantly killed everyone in that room, with a silencing void in their place. However, because there were no longer a sustainable amount of people thinking about it (everyone who got out saw nothing happening, and everyone inside were instantly killed) the anti-nuke and it's destruction instantly disappeared before it could leave the confines of that bunker, leaving only the more vague cold guy in it's place.

I think one of the terrifying things about the Abandoned by Disney creepypasta is that it's written in such a way that when you understand what's going on, it only makes everything feel that much more helpless. If Inverted Mickey is meant to be a manifestation of the trauma caused by the illusion being shattered for children and the trauma that comes from that, and match that with the trauma that comes from the workers not being allowed to shatter the illusion and pretend like everything is fine when their coworkers die, then it creates a scenario in which, no matter what happens, a corruptus will manifest. No matter what, just by merely existing you're doomed to inflict trauma. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. It's truly hopeless and fatalistic, and that makes it even scarier.

This is THE BEST creepypasta about mascothorror. Its so deep, it has insane tragic and horrifying lore. And at the climax man, its so scary, and thinking that it started with a real event, its so terrorizing. This is Perfection. And the thing ''mickey'' says: Want to see my head come off? its so good it became the first page of my journal ( just for decoration ) and broooooo. This is INSANE.

Funny how this creepypasta told the story of Disney's corruption and greed consuming them from within, and 10 years later, given what's happening to the Walt Disney Company in our real world, we see corruption and greed of a different kind coming back to bite them. To me, the line "Abandoned by God" takes on a whole new meaning, as it now refers to how Disney's "God" (a.k.a money) abandoned it.

Was never super familiar with this creepypasta before other than through osmosis. But when I first saw the line "Abandoned by God," my initial interpretation was that it was written from the perspective of Negative Mickey. To him, Disney was his creator and therefore his God, and they rejected him by trying to bury him and cover up his existence.

I think the most striking aspect of the story for me is the idea that Disney would have a policy in place where if someone died while in costume, another staff member would have to sit next to them, take photos, and pretend like nothing was wrong until someone came to help. I just find the idea so horrifying because I was in a situation very similar to it. I work as a housekeeper, and I'm almost always alone. Most of my customers are regulars, but some I only saw once or twice. I would go to their house, clean, and then never see them again. One of these appointments popped up in my calendar. It was for an old man in a nice apartment complex up on the third floor. When I arrived, the door was unlocked and he told me to come right in. Inside, he had a broken leg and was laying on his couch. The apartment was messy, but not disgusting. He had me do a few odds and ends alongside the normal clean, chatted me up a bit, and I finished in about an hour. Two weeks later, his apartment showed up in my calendar again. I didn't really want to go back because parking in the area was poor, and like last time, I had to park several blocks away from the building and carrying all my equipment to complex and then up to the third floor. Before I went into the apartment, I told the cleaning company I don't want to keep him as a regular since parking was such a nightmare. I knocked on the door, didn't hear an answer, and then remembered the door was unlocked last time. I opened it, and the apartment was dark save for the dim light shining through the partially open blinds. It had a strange and pungent smell to it, like old wilted houseplants that hadn't yet dried out. The old man was where I last saw him: laying on the couch with his leg propped up fast asleep. I didn't want to wake him and asked the conpany what I should do. They asked me to gently wake him and go about the clean. Reluctantly, I walked over to the old man, but I stopped when I realized his head was melting into his hand. My heart quicked as my eyes traced his body and saw his bloated, yellowed stomach. He wasn't asleep; he was dead. And he had been dead for nearly two weeks. I couldn't bring myself to move closer and get a better look. My body was screaming at me to move away and not to look, becauae I knew his rotted face would haunt me forever. So I backed away and told the office, and then called the police. Thankfully, I wasn't forced to wait in the room with the body or sit next to it, but I did have to wait outside the apartment for the police and paramedics to arrive. I sat in the lobby for nearly an hour. The lady behind the desk got me hot tea and gave me a hug. The officers were friendly, and the office told me to take the rest of the day off and to let them know if I needed more time to recover from the shock. I remembering thinking about how long the old man had been rotting, and that no one had noticed he had died. No one called, no one checked up on him, nothing. Neighbors had walked past his apartment and lived next door, unaware that he was dead. I was probably the last person he saw. I can say from personal experience howing shocking and viscerally horrifying it is to stumble across a dead body, but the idea of being forced to sit next to it for God knows how long until help arrives scares me in a way I can't articulate. Especially because it doesn't sound far off from a policy Disney would actually have, because they already have policies and training in place for employees for how to handle human ashes and remains for when a family member inevitablely spreads their loved one's remains in the Happiest Place on Earth.

Been almost obsessively listening to this video for the past two weeks and an idea came to mind. The yellow blood, the suggestion cards, PN Mickey... what if he wasn't always photo negative? Because, realistically, how many people would know that blood discolors and coagulates after a time? Not many I would assume. I know I didn't until I read the comments. So, let's assume that the blood is "vomit" for a spell, on Pastra's comment, wouldn't the people working there have remarked on the characters different colors? I'm starting to think not. There's a suit who keeps getting covered in vomit, he can't get his head off, and there's 1 extra mascot that's not on payroll. Yet none of the cards mention that the extra suit is different. It's just there, existing, trying to get out of the "costume" that it thinks it's in. It could have very well started as a regular costume, but became photo negative as it delved deeper into corruption. It starts murdering, it lays like a murder victim, it's rotting and I like to think, starts changing as time progresses, the belief physically changing him to become inverted, as now he is seen as a dark spot, the bad side of Disney. Kind of like the Gascots, they only start appearing AFTER Room 0, when countless people donned the gas masks and vanished, and now they roam, after the room was sealed. Those that remain now hold memories of the people who wore the masks, and those memories, and the belief that they may still be alive brought them back, but not the same. And the more that see them, the more of them spawn. The only one i don't have any idea for is the faceless kids. Anyways! Great video and I can't wait to listen to it over and over and over again xD ♡
@BILLCIPHER8

I'm not sure if this makes sense as I kinda just rambled lol. but that's how I view it.

I think the blog poster actually made a huge mistake by revealing the existence of the corruptus to the public. If they are manifestations of how people feel about Disney, particularly negative emotions, then telling everyone that Disney has been creating horrifying monsters that are haunting their attractions and killing people would make those negative emotions even worse, thereby making the corruptus even stronger and more numerous.

@@virtuedreamer6623 It's *definitely* not real, because realistically any company that had an employee collapse on the job and that didn't at least attempt to revive them would be sued like nobody's business. I don't know for certain what the parks' actual policy for this event is, but I'm sure it's more along the lines of "keep the guests calm but keep them away, attempt to revive the employee and call for emergency medical staff". Disney parks are very committed to staying in character and such, but not to the extent that they'd allow themselves to be found legally liable for not trying to assist a dying employee. Slimebeast's Disney pastas are just scary stories. IRL Disney is corrupt the same as any big business, but these stories take that corruption to dramatic extremes to create more effective horror.
@AliCatDarling
@AliCatDarling 11 ай бұрын
@@virtuedreamer6623 So, as far as I know, the current policies are that if a costumed character becomes unconscious or unresponsive, employees will pretty swiftly come in and carry them away to get help out of view of crowds. Every single costumed character has at least one "handler" that escorts them throughout the park. These handlers, who are dressed like a basic employee, have a multitude of responsibilities like helping the character move to their place (since there's low visibility in the costumes), protect them from unruly guests, and keep check on their health. Depending on the costume and how troublesome it is, characters can sometimes have multiple handlers at a time. One costumed character will never be responsible for another's safety. If they're in the same space as the incapacitated costumed character, they might cause a distraction while that person is being taken away, but no, they will not have to take pictures with them.

I honestly love this color negative look of your character, it feels like the complete reverse of the creepypasta, it feels like this is how it's supposed to be, it feels like it's in place, like it fits on your whole channel's vibe, it belongs perfectly to the general aesthetic you give to your art It feels like something weird and strange but not necessarily bad or evil, it feels polite, charming on its own way, it looks frendly and even cute if I may say, like something completely different to anything one has ever seen but that still looks like it has a benevolent or at least innocent nature Maybe it's not so much the inverted colors (hue) but rather the inverted lighting (value), having the darks and clears reversed gives it a rather "playful innocent curiosity that becomes accidentally menacing and/or fearful mortality" kind of vibe, it's like a weird feeling of being attracted towards something that ends up being negative but that's not even it's fault, it's not its intention to be and it doesn't feel like it is, it actually looks cute I don't really know how to explain it other than the opposite feeling of turning something innocent and childish into pure horror, it's like that but reversed and I really love it, I like it a lot hehe

And that the corruptus is the suit, and one of the actors wore it. That's why sometimes it seems like it's from the pov of the suit, and other times from someone in the suit. I genuinely feel like Fnaf was loosely inspired by this story. Not only is there the whole theme of corpses inside abandoned mascot suits and them being in agony, but in the original Fnaf game, a poster of Freddy on the wall would sometimes change to a poster of Freddy ripping his head in two, while it was still on his body. His normal model also has handprints in the same spots where he was doing that. The game also offers descriptions of blood and mucus oozing from the animatronic masks, which may have been inspired by the yellow chunky blood.

Easily my favourite part of this story is just how abstract Photo-Negative Mickey is. Specifically, the fact that he’s so unnatural, he himself can’t rationalise his existence. It makes you wonder just how torturous it must be to be a Corruptus. Not the ones like the faceless children or the Gascots, but the ones like Photo-Negative Mickey who are at least self-aware enough to understand how abnormal they are. That’s definitely a new favourite horror trope for me! (EDIT: Kinda unrelated but I’ve been thinking about the whole “if I don’t synch my breathing with the costume’s I can’t get any air” thing, and I’ve come to this conclusion: maybe Photo-Negative Mickey is an organic being with its skin replaced with a Mickey Mouse costume. The talk about how its entire body consists of sores which stick to the suit is accurate, because its “sores” are actually exposed muscle stuck to the fabric as if it were flesh. That doesn’t rationalise how the suit can breathe on its own and the body having to synchronise with it, I know, but it explains a lot, don’t you think?)

i wonder if, in the scenario where photo negative mickey is a sentient costume with no one inside, its possible its issues with breathing are less literal and more something that came from the employees trauma from the bad regulations with the suits, ive seen a lot of people say wearing those feel suffocating, specially if worn too long without breaks, so while mickey is only one body it feels as if its two trying to breathe in synch, because thats what the suffocation felt like for the employees who had to wear the costumes

The part where the mascot employee describes what the protocol is when an actor drops dead while in character is especially dark for me because of how poorly the mascot actors are treated in real life. The actors have very strict guidelines that they need to follow at all times such as never breaking character even for a second, having very specific responses to certain questions by park attendants, and each actor needing to sigh autographs in a certain style of handwriting that they need to copy down perfectly. Imagine that, having to write something down while wearing a costume with a big awkward head and bulky gloves let alone perfectly.

I have an idea for what the "blood" could be. In mythology, Ichor is described as what flows through a god's veins like blood, and is depicted as a yellow fluid, and with the creepypasta being called "Abandoned by Disney" and the end quote being "Abandoned by God", It could be showing this photo negative mickey as some sort of god, ripping its form apart.

I remember watching Sacrow's video on this, but I love yours better sinply because you go into all the niddy griddy details of how these stories are written and uncover. Especially Room Zero (which I never really paid attention to the stories until now), it shows how corrupt people can get when believing in certain businesses and people. And also the fact that stuff like the corpse inside of the suit can actually happen is terrifying.

I just looked up the Mickey gas masks- and god does it feel surreal Walt Disney himself actually designed these things during the panic and dread during WWII. I couldn't find anything however about any bomb shelters that were built, cause even in the event of 9/11 they just evacuated the parks. Still knowing the masks, feels creepy and unsettling enough.

And God- this actually had some masterful, actual GOOD writing behind it. It's good to see coming back to see a well written horror story. While also, unfortunately especially for people who really like or have liked Disney, aged well considering the themeing when looking how Disney is becoming more and more corrupted by corporate greed.

I love the climax of the original abondened by Disney, its scary because what’s happening is so hard to comprehend, its not like Mickey costume had hyper realistic eyes with hyper realistic blood and started chasing him, it just decides to pull its head off like it’s a cool trick while the protagonist sits there in horror, and it’s not some phsyco in a Mickey costume or some experiment gone wrong, it could be an experiment, but it’s definitely not human.

I think for me what puts these stories on such a high level is how viscerally everything is described. *Nothing* is safe or normal, everything is described in such an unpleasant and unsettling way, especially in the first story. Even once you get an explanation for what’s happening, once things start to make sense, it doesn’t lessen the horror because the sheer unnatural nature of everything refuses to let you get comfortable with any of it, and the way things are described is a big part of that. I could feel and see everything in the original story in my head and it made me way more uncomfortable than any other creepy pasta as a result. There’s more to my feelings on this story but it’s not something I can properly put into words other than to say I really appreciate them in a way I do few other pieces of horror literature, and I’m glad you covered them. Thanks for the awesome video!
