Been there, done that! Patsy had a voice that was both era and genre defining. Hard to believe her entire recording career lasted a mere 8 years. Since her death in 1963, she's been cited as one of the most respected and influential performers of the 20th century. In 1973 she was the first woman to be inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame.

In Coal Miner's Daughter, Sissy Spacek play Loretta Lynn and the close relations the two had. Her alarm radio comes on and it wakes "Loretta" up listening to this song. After the song ends, the announcer says, "That is another one from our tribute to the late Patsy Clone who died in an aircraft..." She sits bolt upright and wide awake with total shock on her face. In real life, that was how Loretta Lynn found out her closest friend had died.

1963 or 2021, the message, passion and problems with love and relationships, are still the same. Patsy had the talent and ability to bring out the things we face with love, in a way that touched us all. Many of her songs like this speaks to our hearts. There is much truth in what she sings with such passion.

Been there, done that lol!!! One of the greatest voices of all time and taken away from us much too soon! Patsy's legacy will live on forever. She set a standard that is very hard to compete with, even today! The first woman in country music to cross over into Pop, the first country music star to headline at Carnegie Hall and Las Vegas, and the first woman headliner to demand her money upfront because the promoters in those days didn't take woman singers seriously and would take off with the money before they got paid. Her motto was "No dough...No Show." AND she had the balls to tell the audience herself! That's just a few of many "firsts" for her!

In early 1963, Patsy Cline was recording songs for her next album, , which was set for release in late March, 1963. She recorded "Sweet Dreams" for the album on February 5. However, on March 5, Cline died in a plane crash on the way home from a benefit in Kansas City, Missouri for the family of Cactus Jack Call, a disc jockey who was killed in an automobile accident so, therefore, the album was never released. The songs were later compiled for the release in 1988.

Patsy felt every song she sang. Listen to "Faded Love" She cried while singing that song. Please don't stop at just 2 songs. Patsy can sing anything. Listen to "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Love Sick Blues" "She's Got You" "Walkin After Midnight" "Why Can't He Be You" "I Fall To Pieces" Patsy has many songs. She is one of the greatest female Country singers of all time. No one can take her place or comes close to singing like her....and she's been gone for 58 yrs.

The night of this recording she came to the studio after having a major fight with her husband. He then shows up at the studio to talk to her, and goes by Owen Bradley her producer. Owen ask's if Patsy and him had a fight. He says "No, I don't think so." Owen then tells him to get out and go home. He goes on to say, "Patsy is crying through almost every take, and you're going to break the mood, so get out of here." So he leaves. Patsy then records her last two songs of the night, "Sweet Dreams" and "Faded Love." Her emotion boils over in these last two songs and in the end of Faded Love she starts to break down but holds her composure to finish the song. But the emotion in her voice comes through and you can feel her pain. One month later she dies in a plane crash and her great voice is taken from the world. You need to hear "Faded Love."

Think about this. A female talking about a bad relationship...not women. The men could sing about women in a negative way but not the women. She was a trail blazer. Loretta Lynn wouldn’t be the same if she wasn’t friends with Patsy. Coal Miners Daughter is a really good movie about Loretta and Patsy is in it showing Loretta how to stand up for herself. Powerful stuff for a couple of country singers.

@@SimplyKSimone You should try 'I fall to pieces' also, it's one of her big hits. Honestly. The most soulful singers were from the 60's; Patsy, Janis,Aretha,Tina,Etta; among others. It was one of the eras where the singers were all.. well... singers. They could sing most of this era's singers under the table. Also you should try 'Tony Childs- I've got to go now' ; also Toni Childs Lay Down Your Pain LIVE on Hey Hey It's Saturday 1994
