Secret Story is an album by Pat Metheny released in 1992. All of the music is composed by Metheny (shared credit on one track), and it is one of his most ambitious and successful studio ventures, integrating elements of jazz, rock, and world music. On the performing side, it includes collaborations with the Pinpeat Orchestra of the Royal ballet of Cambodia), the London Symphony Orchestra and its conductor Jeremy Lubbock, the Choir of the Cambodian Royal Palace, Toots Thielemans, and Lyle Mays.

The whole album is a masterpiece. I love this album so so much. This song makes me tear up, it evokes so much feelings inside. There are two artists/groups that paints pictures in my mind and heart when I listen to their music - closing my eyes and just opening all my senses and emotional feelings - it's Pink Floyd and Pat Metheny/Pat Metheny Group. I will love the music of Pat Metheny until the day I draw my last breath. Thank you for giving me so much, Pat Metheny 💕💕💕

Me too ... there Has only been one other song like that in my life… No I take that back 2 others. Anyhow, my long summer was 2012. I lost 3 women out of my life ... A mother and two daughters. But I still cried over it in 1992 when I heard it first.

Pat plays piano on this. It's not a Pat Metheny Group album, so Lyle's not on most of it. This album was very personal to Pat, and Pat played any part he could before calling in his favourite musicians to fill out the album.

My parents were always listening to Pat Metheny when I was a kid. I stuck with his music as I got older. I also had a “longest summer” with a girl that came to a sad ending because of distance and this track teleports me back to that time of my life.

Pat music can always take you places or stir something up in you... The Longest Summer The title for me could have easily been " The Summer I Let Her Get Away Idiot!!" That haunting part in the middle when he is playing and the strings are pronounce takes me back to the summer I let her go....

Having been an uberfan for over 35 years, I can safely guess Pat would rather skip shooting the music videos altogether, because he has 17 new compositions in his head and he would rather practice anyway. The girl tho.
