Just wrapping a patch panel where the previous owner cut out a patch panel short idk why? Trying to recover all the cabling onto a 110 panel. Thanks for watching!

On behalf of the future network admin coming in to use that patch, thanks for the tidy work. Nothing wrong with having to mount the switch stack/router up high- it's honestly a blessing in disguise, as it keeps the average random user from coming in and trying to wire their own connections to the switches, and keeps the equipment safe when a lazy company tries to use the IDF as a spare mop/broom closet. Hope they were able to give you a blueprint of the floor so the jacks can be mapped out after getting toned/labeled.

Thanks for watching! I didn't tone anything out it was more of just repair what someone else did.

Man, leaving the pairs twisted together? Why did I never think of that? Literally half the tedium xD Also, yeah, modules are the modern way to go, but if you need to redo them for whatever reason they're annoying af

You can move so much faster not untwisting the pairs. I think if you hook up a meter to it also gives a better signal, they say you cannot be untwisted for less than 1\4 inch or something like that. Thanks for watching an old Verizon guy showed me this and I just replicated what he did.

I use a Harris punch down tool. Klien never was up to snuff.

I think it's just the blade isn't set right. I sharpened the blade and it works as expected now

Very clean patch panel. I hate using those old style ones myself and prefer the keystone jack patch panels if any way possible. Cutting out a patch panel like that is pretty dang stupid IMO for when somebody is leaving a space. I can understand taking the rack to use somewhere else though.

I think because if I put the keystones out in the wall plates, by time I'm back to the patch panel I just want a different thing to do so I'm not bored. Also a lot of it comes down to the habit of knowing what your getting yourself into.

Keystone are so nice, and you have have different media in the same panel. Fiber, Coax, Audio... hell whatever.

That will be up to someone else I was just making the space ready for a tenant to move in. They asked for a 30 amp twist lock receptacle so it must be a lot of equipment.

just forget punch down blocks and evolve to keystone jacks - they are more civilized, easier to deal with #pots #modular
