For a few years now, Sonic merchandise has been pretty lacking. Both Classic and Modern Sonic merchandise took a backseat for Sonic Boom, and many fans have been waiting for new main series figures. Well, that wait is finally over! On the classic side, at least. We finally have new Classic Sonic figures (including a 3" Classic Knuckles!) but are they any good? Let's find out.
In this video I take a look at the complete set of 25th Anniversary TOMY Classic Sonic figures. This includes the Single Packs, the Archie Comic Book Packs, and the Collector's 3 pack.

As a sonic collector i was so excited for the sonic forces gamestop exclusive pack only to realize 3/4ths of the figures are re-releases and a not even mediocre tails figure. So disappointed. (if modern tails is bad then their probably gonna mess up metal sonic and classic metal)

To be honest, I really miss Jazwares, their toy models looked exactly how the characters looked in the video games. And if Jazwares still make Sonic figures, that classic Knuckles would had looked way better, and in my opinion they had a more iconic and better paint job, don't get me wrong I'm still gonna pick these up, but Jazwares was the best and I wish they still had rights by SEGA to make the Sonic toy line. They are the true Sonic toy line to me.

I personally disagree. The Jazwares figures had horrendous paint jobs in my opinion. They also had very breakable joints, and looked very off model to due their large amount of joints. Scaling was also kinda trash, but you do you my guy

I both like and dislike the packaging. While I like the styling of the boxes, it’s one of my pet peeves when they are oversized for such a small figure. Also I feel like more packaging drives up the price.

They did! He had a very limited release, only being in a pack called the Classic Collector's Pack, it had Classic Sonic, Tails, Amy, Super Sonic, Motobug, and Metal Sonic! He's pretty rare now, as the pack costed like $40 at retail so not many people bought it. I managed to get a deal and got it for $21 back around 2014! Sure now I have doubles of all of the Classic characters, but I have Metal Sonic!

Speaking of metallic painted figures, Tomy better apply that for their Metal Sonic figures if they plan for it, otherwise it would be a huge missed opportunity. :s

Yeah Boom Metal was a pretty big let down (though there is a metallic paint version out now that comes in a 3 pack with metallic Sonic and Knuckles), I hope if they make Classic and Modern Metal the normal release is metallic.

The Triple Pack is most likely made for collectors, I would not recommend getting them for small children or yourselves to play with. I had gotten the Triple pack for Christmas, Knuckle's hand broke right off. I was also afraid that Sonic's foot would break off. The Single or Comic packs are made more for people who just want the toys.

PyroPorygon you just have to turn the foot/wrist joint SLIGHTLY. when you hear the noise stop, that means the joint is movable without breaking. I did it, and my figures haven't broken.

These are some of the best sonic figures ever made, at first I really didn't like the tomy boom merchandise, I was just hoping jazzweres would come back, but all the 25th anaversary merchandise has made me very hopeful that tomy will make modern figures and plushes. I'd love to see a second wave of classic figures and plushes, but these figures are the best sonic figures in my collection.

Ok, This Requires a bit of a story for this... My Brother saw this video and wanted the plushes. And he saved his money, and soon got Tails and Knuckles, and all he needed was Sonic. (He did not want eggman) He then found a ebay listing for 25$. And He always requires approval from my mother for him to order it, and because it was on ebay, my mom did not trust it. And he soon did not get Sonic before the set got rare. Now, Sonic is 90$ on amazon. Poor Child.

Once again, a pleasantly in-depth review! Haven't been to a TRU in a while, but I'll try to go soon and pick these figures up. Still holding out for Modern Sonic stuff, though. That's really all I care too much about. When/if that happens, I hope they step up their game even more with stuff that can outdo Jazwares' offerings.

Thanks! Honestly if TOMY makes Modern figures with this level of articulation, and their sculpts look as good as Jazwares, I think TOMY can outdo them. Right now Jazwares is still on top, but if TOMY releases enough characters, and stops with repaints and unnecessary stuff like that (can't wait for Dirty Classic Sonic), they can overtake them. Or TOMY can just release Rouge and instantly win.

One other thing today I got the knuckles with bee bot 2 pack in the mail but I saw on amazon that figures like the 7 inch metal sonic and figures like crabmeat, motobug and sonic with glasses but they go up for like £50 or more WTF!!! When did they even come out coz I'm hoping that its just early released or something and that they actually have good prices later on as they become more common

The new TOMY stuff, like the Boom stuff you mentioned, are having a very weird release. I don't think the Boom stuff sold all that well, so some stores just aren't carrying the line. For example, my Toys R Us has never and probably will never get the Boom Shadow figure, so I have no way of getting him. Some people are taking advantage of the shortage of figures and are charging a lot of money for them. I know Amazon themselves are stocking the Vinyl Metal Sonic figure (I have him and I highly recommend it), as well as the Knuckles/Bee Bot 2 Pack, but they aren't stocking everything. Hopefully the new stuff sells pretty well and more stores start getting more of the new figures, so they aren't as hard to find.

They actually have confirmed that Classic Metal Sonic will be coming out this year, along with Modern Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Metal Sonic. Hopefully more stores stock those since Classic and Modern are much more popular than Boom.

I’m disapointed for the Tomy Classic 3 pack (pixelated figures). They took the original Classic figures and Painted with making pixelated details on it. Very cheap the way They made it but the figures are ok/good.

tomy should make a cream the rabbit figure with articulated ears beacause with a cheese the chao accessory ,and a rouge figure with the same joints as the jazwares execpt with articulated wings
