Mine would give me $5 mind you this was in the mid to late 80s and by then $5 was about 40min of play tops. That is until I got extremely good at a few pinball tables and could keep a few of them going for 30min on a a frw quarters. :)

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries That's like all of my memories. So many memories are tied to what game I was playing when something happened. Good and bad ones. Graduated high school - singstar with family. But Kirby, the most lovable little fluff is tied to my aunt dying when I was in 2nd grade.

The arcade version of Karate Champ takes me back. I can still remember kids crowding around it at the roller skating rink that used to be on West Kimberly Rd in Davenport. It was very popular, at least until they later got Double Dragon and then a couple of years later the 4 player TMNT arcade game! Good times!

I was going to post the same! I was in fourth grade at the time and the bigger kids told me you fight the judge at the end. I got as far as the third level after it flips around and just assumed the game goes on forever, as the double speed mode was insane and took about a half hour for me to get to. Only in the days of KZfaq did I find out there is an end. Boss fight would have been cool especially in those days.

I'm so glad you did a video on this game. This was my first fighting game I ever played too, and I loved it. Absolutely loved it. A year ago, my daughter had her 9th birthday party at a local arcade/pizza place - and they had a handful of modern games and a couple retro - and lo and behold - sitting dusty and ignored in the corner was my beloved Karate Champ! Unfortunately, having not played one in over thirty years, I apparently had forgotten all the moves and got my but kicked almost immediately - but I still loved it. It's one of the first Arcade Cabs I plan to build for my own Man Cave... Thanks again for a great video! Cheers

When I first played Karate Champ It was at my favorite pizzeria on 51 Colombia street in the lower east side of Manhattan NYC in 1984. That pizzeria would have 3-4 machines and would switch them every 6 months to a year. When Karate Champ showed up it was the showcase, tons of quarters would be up in reserve and my 8-year-old behind had to push my way to leave a quarter up from the steelworkers who would come for a lunchbreak, gang members, NYPD, Sanitation guys, and Punks, playing this was fun, the two joystick combo was awesome and I liked the way the moves were pulled off. My dad the following year got me in Goju Ryu Karate because of this game, the moves in the game were legit in terms of blocks and punches. The Bull part was inspired by a real bull killing by karate punch by the legendary Kyokushin Karate master Sensei Oyama in the 60s, which was portrayed by his student Sonny Chiba in Karate Bull Killer, or something like that. Call me a sadist but I actually liked the Nes version, I bought it for 19.99 at Crazy Eddies in 1987 on clearance and would play with my cousins when they visited. Great game with awesome memories, again always awesome videos PatmanQC!

Karate champ always looked odd to me with the 2 joysticks and was a rare thing in the UK arcades and I did play it but Yie ar Kung Fu,Double Dragon and Kung Fu Master seemed to be a more common sight. I KNEW you would put that Bloodsport clip in soon as I saw the game title🤣🤣

World karate and international karate for the same game. way of the exploding fist was another Excellent fighter. It wouldn't be a karate champ video if I didn't reference bloodsport :-)

Hey Patman wats up wit u? I used to hate this damn game on the NES!! But with a limited library I didn't have much choice..it just controls so bad its unplayable!! Still good memories of it and only wanting to see the different backgrounds! Good video as usual buddy!!💯👍🏽💎

Thanks a lot. The backgrounds are what kept me playing it when I was younger as well.

I really loved this game on arcade but sadly i never owned the c64 version, I wasn't aware of its existence at the time, good old times when your only source of informations about games were your friends (we hadn't a vg magazine till 1987)

That super imposed image of the Afro Patman on Daniel San :D Worthy of a montage of Joe Esposito
