I’m in shock hearing her say, we gathered together, ordered up food, and watched the coverage together. Then said they went out to dinner that night. Of course people have to eat but not only was the whole country stunned that day… but especially New Yorkers were in shock. To think the poor people working as restaurant staff had to continue working while their city is going through something like this is heartbreaking. I mean, even the ELR crew wasn’t able to work that day. A lot of people weren’t… but the restaurant staff has to keep cooking through it. 😢

They were in a hotel and would not have had food with them. Should they have starved? The staff could probably stay over in hotel rooms if they needed to. The staff and cast sound like good people. It must have been so frightening to be in New York City at this time when people were so afraid that didn't even live near the places where the tragedies occurred. It must have been traumatic for everybody living in those places.

I was 17. When I seen the second plan hit, I though it was a replay. The angle I seen it in, made the other building blocked. I was paying attention to the smoke. My dad said "no. That's not a replay...it's was a second plan hiting the other building." I did feel scared. But I did remember being calm. Thinking American wasn't going to be the same but we were going to be ok and we were going to fight back hard. And we did. I remember every house was decorated on red white and blue. Pray for new York signs in yard. Crazy thing is. I was wearing I love NY pajamas shirt and my friends just bought me a new York cheese cake, new York poster and perfume fron the a little shop in New York. My birthday was the 15th. I just opened all that stuff an hour before we heard about the attack.

Stop being so judgmental and entitled when it comes to others just because they are celebrities. there are places in the world where people live through "9/11" every day and you could care less because of the distance from you and your family. As an american, 9/11 taught me how incredibly self absorbed my fellow men and women are. Y'all don't care for real, just want attention for how sad you can show yourself for attention.

Ray is the one who went downtown and met the gentleman covered in soot and offered to help him. Ray would more readily remember him for that reason. Then go arrange to eat dinner… met a guy .. “Just a guy” Her words.. “I don’t remember his name”. She had dinner with “him” & her friends that extended help to this “no name man”. I’m sorry but if a soot ridden man wandered off the street & I paid for his room & dinner… I might not remember his surname, but sure as *insert a rude word here* as hell, I would remember his first name. The hot topic of that dinner would of been about events of that day. It would be , burned into you. I live in Australia its burned into my mind.. People couldn't get home, That was the whole point. They gave him clothes and they gave him the spare hotel room they had. Then when they went to eat he came with them. What are they supposed to do, they're in a hotel. They have to go out to eat. Im a little shocked that people are unaware of what was going on in New York that day. No one got home right away. It was 3 to 5 hours before most families heard from the people that managed to get out. There was no transportation, the streets were covered in soot and blocked. It was a mess... People were walking towards their homes, just walking for hours, and there are many stories like this one where someone gave them shelter and food.

Wow. I really like to Patricia Heaton up until I saw this. She was great on everybody loves Raymond and great on The middle. But this interview she came across as such a pretentious and out-of-touch b word. Thousands of people have literally died, and the things that she's thinkin and talkin about are just mind-blowing. They brought that guy to dinner and she really thinks that he's thinking about wow I'm at dinner with the cast with everybody loves Raymond.... um no. He's probably replaying his life in his mind and thanking God that he gets to be there and thinking about all of his friends and colleagues that maybe didn't make it. And then she's mocking Ray and brad for having to speak to a fan for a long time. Idk. The whole thing hits me as gross.

If you listen to Ray’s interview, he said that the gentleman actually made that joke at dinner - “everyone would believe I was really at ground zero, but nobody would believe that I’m here with you guys at dinner.”

She said everybody had cellphones but that must be false memories because in 2001 cellphones were still quite new and not everybody had one.

Not true. Many many people (especially professionals) were using cell phones in 2001. iPhones did not exist yet, nor did streaming - and most people did not have video on their phones. But cellphones were pretty common by then.

People still had to eat. And if you didn't live in NYC and were staying in a hotel, restaurants were the ONLY option. Don't forget, the chaos was mostly contained in the downtown area.

It is very hard to describe what it was like in the city that day. But if you have ever been to a funeral, you know that laughter can be a balm and a release when emotions are too intense. I watched the towers come down from across the river. When you are in shock, you simply try to move forward and survive. Thank you for watching.

@@PopGoesTheCultureTV yes, my mother died ten years ago when I was 15, she was 38. I understand how feelings can be different and also mould and change, but usually funerals are weeks later and you go through emotions, so perhaps this did also happen to Patricia later on. Maybe her story telling just seemed odd as rays was much more emotional. Thanks for the response

My daughter was a toddler when this happened, but I had to finish my day of work. At first I also was certain that it was an accident with a small plane. Then the realization that subways and bridges and tunnels were closed. Then I switched into total focus on picking up my daughter from the babysitter on time. I felt that was the only thing I could control that day. I walked several several blocks to a major subway station where they might have resumed service, but my train was not running, so constructing a series of train transfers and local bus routes got me where I needed to go. After accomplishing the one goal of picking up my daughter, I was truly overwhelmed. We got a snack at a small diner, and that was really the first time I saw any TV news. And then we went to the playground near the babysitter's house, and stayed there on slides and empty swings until 10pm or later. I just wanted to feel confident that bus routes would have had time to recover before braving transportation again. We escaped to the playground, so I understand why people might have escaped to laughter for relief. But the playground could not hold back the sorrow. It was everywhere palpable in the city, and it stayed for weeks, months, years, ready to return at a moment's notice when something triggered that day.

Everyone is different the way they handle trauma though. When I was 11 years old, I saw my dog get run over by a car. I was literally about six inches away (I was trying to catch him) and it was a brutal, bloody, death. I screamed and ran away, traumatized. About 15 minutes later, I was eating a peanut butter jelly sandwich, watching Little House on the Prairie, like nothing happened. I remember my sister being really upset with me, crying and saying how can you be watching TV like nothing happened? But she didn't know that I couldn't even see the TV, I only saw what kept replaying in my mind over and over. The TV was simply a way to distract myself, and the sandwich was my way of trying to return to normalcy. So don't judge too quickly, everyone just copes differently. It doesn't mean they don't care.

This is pretty disturbing. Reminds me of the scene in the titanic where they were parading how poor and uneducated Jack was at dinner. And who in the F WAS making any kind of jokes that day? Let alone with someone who survived that nightmare. I have zero respect for this show ever and now even worse. All she says is she was worried about her damn life.
