Bartok probably couldn’t imagine his music played so beautifully and with such imagination. Patricia is a very acquire taste…. It’s one I’ve acquired a while ago. Love her. ❤️

Kopatchinskaja is one of the most audacious violinists ever. Yes, she is an eccentric! Everything she does is with total commitment and intensity. If you expect something safe and conservative she will not be your "cup of tea." If you are open to a refreshing new vision you will not be disappointed. Brava! And the Finnish Radio Orchestra under S. Oramo's baton is more than equal to the task!

One of the most authentic interpretations of Bartok's 2nd violin concerto. Personally, Kopatchinskaja's "bare feet" playing reminds me of Bartok as "an ardent student of folkways, seeking the roots of meters, rhythms, and modalities in the spontaneous songs and dances of the people." (quoting Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians). Wonderful!

I love Richard Hendrix’ remarks about Patricia Kopatchinskaja. I had to think about her performance. He woke me up and I thought what I feel and examined what I feel about her. I love her playing, I like how she comports herself, I admire her violin playing, I felt charmed by her clowning during a Ligeti Violin performance, her playing in this recording feels earthy and grounded. Her music makes sense to me. She makes the music talk to me. I want to be present. I do adore gypsies.

That is the best rendition of my favorite Bartok composition.

You know what? Bartok sounds so magnificently & naturally structured as a Beethoven piece might sound. Her idiomatic playing is like that time I had to desperately call someone in Italy and I was able to speak enough Italian to communicate with them despite no awareness of the language.

PatKop is such a trip. She definitely does her own thing. Barefoot. I love how unconventional she is.

Bartok is the only concerto she played didn't irritate me, weird soloist plus weird music turns into an exciting experience.

L' audio sembra provenire da una traccia precedentemente registrata sulla quale la violinista si muove per simulare la necessaria coerenza tra ciò che si vede e ciò che si sente! L'esecuzione è molto buona! Il suono sempre uniforme, privo di sbavature e non si riesce a trovare manco una piccola nota fuori posto. La Kopatchinskaja è violinista esuberante, ma piuttosto sciatta e se la mia riflessione fosse campata in aria, sarebbe la performance migliore della russa, da quando l'ho vista per la prima volta!

I recently watched her performing Stravinsky's violin concerto. She seemed absolutely at one with the music, full of exuberant joy and playfulness. But this is disappointing - I much prefer Viktoria Mullova.

like everytime, her tone is not well, strange interpretation (so many exaggaration, tempi, expression...) On KZfaq are with Tetzlaff and Hadelich better concerts of this piece. It´s not enough to come bare footed on the stage.

Single handedly, she is the strangest violinist I have ever heard in my life. Does she even know what a tempo is? She's all over the place. But this is how she is typically. And she looks unkept as well. It's out of tune right off the bat and then she gets out of tempo. How is the orchestra supposed to follow her when she can't keep up a straight tempo ? And the third note of the solo does not even have an accent on it. She puts a comma before she plays it. It's not phrased that way. This girl comes up with the weirdest phrasings I have ever heard and they are quite unnatural. I do not like her playing at all. I think she purposely goes out there on a limb trying to be as weird as possible. another thing that I really dislike is that this is not a performance, it's a reading. She doesn't have it memorized. I have a big problem with that. Her second movement is washed out in the tone. There's nothing tender about it, it's more timid than tender. Her searching qualities are quite bothersome to me. By this time she should have made up her mind instead of searching. It lacks a solid continuity. And she goes for a flash in the pan instead of real substance. If she's not doing that, then she needs to get help. This is the most disjointed Bartok I've ever heard in my life.
