A tonally versatile guitar with time-honored Fender style and sound, the Deluxe Strat has a few tricks up its sleeve.
In this video, guitarist Patrick Droney runs through some of his favorite features on the Deluxe Strat, including the special switching of its three Noiseless pickups, the locking tuning machines and 12" fingerboard radius.

Glad Fender has returned to the old Vintage Noiseless pickups. Now my 10-year old set of vintage noiseless is hip again.

Fender better lock Patrick in. He amazingly brings out the purest tone of a Fender guitar and in my opinion they have no better ad campaign than Patrick showcasing their stuff. Hopefully, I never see this guy holding a PRS because it would disappoint me.

I still play my '61 Strat every day (that I bought used in 1969) as well as the other two Strats that I love dearly. At this point I believe that the best $25 I ever spent was for Fender's Rolling Nut! This is a game changer if you use your trem. I play a lot Jeff Beck style licks with tasteful tremolo work and find that my Strats stay in tune nearly forever with this rolling nut. You don't have to buy a Jeff Beck Strat. Start with the Rolling nut and then add the Beck hot pickups if still think you need them. Also, one of the truly brilliant things that Leo Fender did was having the volume right where you can hang you pinky beneath it for effortless swells and any other volume adjusts you might need on the fly. I miss this feature on all of my other guitars and have actually modified a couple of them by moving the volume control position to replicate that of the Strat. Buy a Strat, and be in guitar heaven... like I have been for decades.

too bad we couldn't go back in time and ask Jimmi if he liked regulars or noiseless pickups better, they didn't have the noiseless choice back then, he might have been a fan of noiseless otherwise, it seems like it gives you a little more freedom with the pedal board. . . . .

@fossilmatic
@fossilmatic 6 жыл бұрын
Perhaps the character of the noisy variety was simply that they were noisy, like old radio broadcasts seem somehow more genuine because of the static, or beating the crap out of your guitar finish makes you feel like you’ve actually played some gigs....

Is that push-push switch similar to what David Gilmour's has on his black strat ?
@douglasdobson8110
@douglasdobson8110 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about Dave's Strat electronics, but the push push switch turns on the bridge pickup in the two positions that it would normally not be on, so you can run two additional tones: Neck and Bridge together, and all 3 pickups together

Yes, same idea as DG strat but not quite identical... this push-push button turns the bridge pickup on for additional pickup combinations in switch positions 4 and 5, while DG strat has a recessed toggle switch that turns on the neck pickup for same additional pickup combinations but in switch positions 2 and 1

Basically, it IS the 2016 DPS. Differences are: 2-point trem (ok), locking tuners (yay!), middle pup tone knob rewired to bridge pup (aarrgghhh! WTH?!)
@hiroprotagonitis
@hiroprotagonitis 8 жыл бұрын
+seraph127 aight man but I gotta ask what's wrong with the bridge wired with the middle tone knob? doesn't it just make it easier for you to wire the middle pup with the neck or rewire it to standard spec if you want to keep that bridge pup tone?
@seraph127
@seraph127 8 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't make it easier to go back to classic Strat configuration. Leo Fender said that he didn't put a tone knob on the bridge because if you selected the bridge, it was because you wanted a bright sound.
@hiroprotagonitis
@hiroprotagonitis 8 жыл бұрын
you can still get that bright sound tho unless you mean how the bridge pup now goes through a 250k pot instead of just directly out?
@douglasdobson8110
@douglasdobson8110 8 жыл бұрын
there are a lot of differences between the Deluxe Player and this one, this has a 2 point trem I personally prefer the Synchronous six screw version as the Deluxe Player has. The DP's come with a hideous pickguard but that's easily changed. The only thing I like better about the Deluxe Strat over the Deluxe player is the locking tuners, but I gotta say, I've never had a problem with the vintage style tuners. Circuitry is slightly different. I love everything about my Deluxe Player Strats, it's a Mexican made guitar that outdoes the American Standard in my opinion, and the cool colors are only available on these models (trans blue and trans cream, I think they quit the trans red for some reason) The biggest difference is the new Deluxe Strat has a funny neckplate and won't fit a standard pre-drilled neck without adding a hole (like the newer Peaveys) In my opinion the Deluxe Players Strat > the new Deluxe Strat

Fendere should stop using the players who read only script which Fender gave them. Enough. You should hire normal players, who play the instrument actually. Why 12 radius is so beautiful and perfect why dont you use that on your all guitars? stop magnify your guitar's spec, praise YOUR guitar. I tell you who's bend last forever, as you say dayzz, David Gilmour. He uses 7.25. So it doesnt matter. you just kidding with your own customers. And these ads are awful. All of them.

Well I play acoustic a lot too so this makes it easier for me to swap as I don’t feel my hand is swamping the neck, again it’s personal preference, the 7.5” I almost could reach the 3/4 string with my thumb. And 9.5 didn’t feel right either, different strokes for different Folkes 🙂
SAME GUITAR, 4 BUDGETS! (Can you hear the difference?)
