My thoughts on the Kawasaki ER-6n motorcycle and a exhilarating ride in the Peak District near Sheffield. Great roads and fantastic views.

Hi Pat, I only came across your videos last week and can't stop watching them, I'm working my way through them bit by bit, brilliant commentary and knowledge and excellent footage on your own. I'm into exploring, photography, and own an old Sierra cosworth which is great fun and a Honda cbr 600. You are a breath of fresh air from all the reality programs and rubbish on TV, extremely watchable and natural. Thankyou for your time making the videos and the brilliant editing. Would enjoy a pint in the pub with you but I'm 90 miles from peak district. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

Thanks really appreciate your comments and we have similar interests. A Sierra Cosworth , wow a car to dream about, some great power there. You never know one day you may bump into me in a pub and we can enjoy that pint together, all the best Pat

I happened to come across your channel only this week Pat and I'm hooked. Yeah I'm a biker and it's my main passion in life. This upload of yours has got me thinking about riding the Peak District because those views are just something else ( beautiful) so having my bike serviced this week and the weather looking promising for next week, it will be a 6.am start from Preston and the Peak District it is. Many thanks Pat for this 👍🏻

Hi Pat. I thought I had watched all of your videos but I just stumbled over this one. Nice countryside. I can tell you had the instinct for video production even in your early days but have refined your skills greatly, since. I admire your supple mind which is not afraid to keep learning. Easy on the firewater and keep that fine mind nimble. Hope you are doing well navigating clear of the pandemic. I see your pub video is at 98k views. That is due to your great skills as a natural engineer and not so much due to your swallowing skills. 😉 Take care.

I've bought some new gear apart from my 1980's tent and camped on the Isle of Wight with my border collie in 2020 - great fun. Hi Pat just started watching your videos I'm also from Sheffield down the road at Totley I know the Burbage corner well and been around it many times the view when you look left towards Fox House is one of my favourites, I also had a Capri in the early 80's mine was a 2.0s my cousin had a 3.0 Ghia which was fun especially in the wet!!! We also spent some great times in the peaks around Edale on the enduro bikes we had at the time I had a Honda XR200 my cousin had a Suzuki PE175... happy days, where has the time gone

Hi, have been watching your wild camping videos and came across the bike one. Its a great bike and perfect for the Peak District. I live in the IOM and brought my bike over to stay at Upper booth camp site near Edale. It was May last year and it was nice and quiet.Fell in love with the area and will definitely come back. I walked to the Middletons farm from the TV series. Please do more bike vids. I have also camped near Carsington Water a couple of years ago on my bike and did some fly fishing. Went walking there too and came across a quiet village with a very old pub where all the beer was served direct from the barrel!!
@patrickdickinson64927 жыл бұрын
Hi Philip yes the Peak District has a lot to offer great biking roads, camping and walking and a lot of nice pubs. A few times when I tried to park at Edale they were filming for the Village TV series, whether it will continue I,am not sure. I have been to a couple of very old pubs in area, Three stags Head at Wardlow Mires is like going back 100 years and the one you mention might be the Yew Tree Inn at Couldon which again is like going back in time as pub is full of old gear pianos farm machinery. May film bike ride again, all the best Pat

Hi Pat, I'm really enjoying the videos and this one took me by surprise as I didn't expect a bike review. I did spot your ER6n though - on part 1 of the portaledge video ;-) The ER6 range of bikes are excellent, I had a 2007 Versys 650 a few years ago and it was excellent. I've had loads of bikes since including a couple of BMWs and a Harley but recently I've settled on a Yamaha tracer 700 which is also a parallel twin. I must say, 650cc and around 70bhp is ideal for what they call "real world" biking. It's plenty and the weight is about right too. I've got myself into a pickle a few times with the bigger bikes when the inevitable manhandling is required. Keep doing the vids. Thank you, they are both informative and very entertaining. I must get the tent down out of the loft this spring and see what condition it's in. I must get out on a wild camp this year - probably using the bike to get into the peak district.

Cheers, Pat. I was going to do a lad of cleaning today, but seeing this makes me want to go and dig one of my classic bikes out and bugger off up there instead! Not yer usual, and no worse for it too, pal. Looks like it was a very calm day, the steam rising in the distance over Sheffax way going straight up- do you know from whence it comes? (I know it ain't Wards brewery! Or, God forbid, Stones or Whitbread!). When I lived in Manchester, I used to just jump on my bike and head east, just for the fun of it, no real destination, but usually having a look at bits the railway used to take me whilst at work, to see from the other side of the fence, like. Also, many a pub stop was made, most of the pubs having gone now....... Happy memories made, should have taken more pics when I had the gear and time. Especially when there was still industry and we still made stuff. I love the industrial landscape more than the countryside, TBH, but it's gone, and now the green stuff appeals as well, so thats OK then, lol. Also the roads were quieter and less stressful too and not as many idiots on them. Or speed cameras. Or traffic calming. Or 101 other modern measures to take the gloss of it.Dig the Capri too, mate. BITD I hated them, but not now- I could live with one for sure. bet you wish you still had it in the garage? Ah well,,,,, where's me mop an' bucket..............!
@patrickdickinson64925 жыл бұрын
Nice to hear from you and very nice words, not sure we're the smoke comes from, as you now not a lot of industry left. It's great just to ride round the countryside just for the fun of it, and the freedom of the open road, great words from you, all the best Pat
@laszlofyre8455 жыл бұрын
The pleasure is mine, sir. I did indeed go to dig a bike out but took the wrong battery with me so failed to launch! Wot a mug, eh. Yep, just riding for the fun of it, did a lot BITD. Funny how it nearly always brought me to 't'wrong side o'thill'! Golden days for sure.

It must be great fun riding your bike in the summer around the peak district. I can imagine alot of people losing their back ends in the day as most cars were rwd. The Cat and Fiddle is one hell of a road for bends and is the Cat and Fiddle inn is popular with bikers. That's the most dangerous road in the UK.

Didn't notice this until now. Nice bike. I have a Yamaha SR myself. An old school low power air cooled kickstart, but with electronic ignition and fuel injection. I like a bike that's pleasant to ride at slow speed on small country roads like that. And no fairings or windshield, they cause baffle. My car doesn't get much kilometers between april and october :-)

Superb Pat. Just out of interest, as a fellow Capri man, was that a 3.0s you had, or did you ever have a 3.0 Essex engined Capri . I had a the 3.0 litre Essex and a 2.8 cologne Classic times . I have to say, your vids are an absolute breath of fresh air.

Hi Martin best car I ever had the Capri, it was a 2.0 litre Pinto engine, about 100 bhp thought it was fantastic. I got it as firms car from YEB on a 3 year contract, tried to get a 2.8 injection when time to renew, but due to endorsemens and crashes they would,nt let me have one, probably good job they did,nt, all the best Pat

Hi Pat, have you thought about buying an adventure bike like the Triumph Tiger or BMW GS? I like to combine my passion for wild camping and motorcycles. I have a R1200GS BMW and have kitted it out to carry all my camping gear and like to head off road into the bush and camp out. There are plenty of great tracks here in Australia, forest and desert, I like to make videos and take photos of my trips too but have not got the know how to edit and upload to youtube, unfortunately I am a bit of a dinosaur in this technical age when it comes to that kind of thing, so much respect to you on your efforts and great content. Cheers, Stan.

Hi Patrick, Your leathers are fantastic. Can you tell me what jacket, pants, boots and gloves you were wearing.
@patrickdickinson64928 жыл бұрын
Hi there Most of the gear I wear I have bought off ebay, the leather jacket is Ashman bought it for about £50 it was a bit scruffy so cleaned it up and put some leather revives colour restorer on and it came up great feels. The leather trousers were again bought on ebay about £40 but they smell of mildew had them cleaned but could not get rid of smell so don,t wear them now bought myself some new and expensive motorcycle jeans which fit and feel good. Gloves and boots again off ebay pretty cheap, one day may treat myself to some new boots thought. You can get some great bargains off ebay etc or occasionally get caught out like I did with the trousers. All the best Pat

Hi Pat, I've had bikes. Small one's, big one's, tourers, sports and off roaders ,old ones slow ones and fast ones. Now I have the motor bike of the sky. The Paramotor. No traffic or slippery roads to contend with. Sandy
@patrickdickinson64926 жыл бұрын
Hi sandy, I did not get a bike till late in life, parents understandably did not want me to have one so did not want to cause them worry. After they passed away I though if I don,t get one now I never will. I think a lot of thing like this is the challenge of something new, doing my test,taking the theory exam bit of a challenge. Still use my bike but not as much as I though, moved onto other interests so never any spare time. Your Paramotor sounds a real challenge, must feel great to be flying all on your own, hope everything goes well all the best Pat
@WiltshireMan6 жыл бұрын
Paramotor is a big leap for me as it is something I have always wanted to try but the thought of falling from a great height understandably put me off! But the sport is quite safe so long as you treat it with respect and get proper training. When I was young I had bikes from the age of 16. The first was a Honda ss50 moped, then a yamaha RD125 followed by a Honda CJ250T. Then moved onto to cars. Took my bike test when I was in my late 30's then moved upto bigger bikes. Don't currently have a bike but do miss it especially when the weather is warm. Sandy
