After watching this over and over, here is my take: (and I'm not complaining at all, I am a huge pats fan and this was one of the sickest "down at the 1" I have ever seen, just doing some analyzing) It was closer than it needed to be because number 31 initially didn't start running to the ball. I'm not sure if it was because of his momentum, but he lobbed the ball straight up which resulted in another player (rex number 34) having to come and make a play. Speaking of Rex, his awareness in relation to himself and the goal line is insane. He doesn't even look at the goal line but he knows to step back before he jumps over it. And of course Matthew slater dodging it in the air to enable it to be downed instead of a touchback. This was awesome
