FYI guys, the "Nashville Sound" referred to in her Wikipedia bio is a reference to a sound that became popular in the late 50s/early 60s that essentially injected a big dose of pop sounds, including doo-wop, rock-n-roll (not to be confused with hard rock), etc. It caused the genre to gain a larger following, but also brought a great deal of controversy within the traditional fanbase, who felt like the traditional sound was being rejected. Incidentally, it is also the style against which Outlaw Country (Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings) were responding.

One of my mom's favorite artists! She has that beautiful bluesy voice that she can break so easily! She was Loretta Lynn's biggest inspirations & they ended up being good friends & toured together.

But her producer, Owen Bradley, correctly perceived that Cline had a glorious pop voice, and they fought fiercely over what songs to record. Patsy Cline = LEGENDARY.. My personal all time favorite female vocalist.

I know she's known as a country icon, but I've always thought of her as a mixture of dowop/pop and rockabilly. Crazy is more country and so is Sweet Dreams of You.

My dad was an electrician, and we did the same thing. He usually played either Hank Williams, Sr. or Eddy Arnold. Great memories!

Little fun fact about Patsy Cline. She recorded Crazy written by Willie Nelson and that is what started his career. He was almost too afraid to pitch the song to her but a friend of hers talked him into it.

My earliest memories of riding in the car with my mother were of her singing along to Patsy Cline. I still listen to her music. What a talent. Hard to believe she was gone at 30 years of age. She's Got You is one of my absolute favorites of Patsy's.

I live about a half hour away from Winchester, Virginia, where Patsy was born and raised. She is absolute LEGEND in these parts. I've actually had the pleasure of knowing at least two people who knew her and ran around with her back in the day before she got famous and left Winchester and when she would come home to visit. An absolute sweetheart, from what I have heard them say. Her voice is just plain unmistakable. There was NO ONE like her. And I see others have already mentioned you should do "Crazy." Thats my favorite from her. And yeah, the bad-ass Willie wrote that one!

I HAVE TO HAVE THIS CONVERSATION. Lost in Vegas, important, you need to know. There has always been a discrimination and prejudice within the Country community. It was really bad in the 70's and early 80's thus The Outlaws. Not so much with the fans but artists that didn't fit Nashville's Fat Cat's image, clean-cut, suite wearing, playing traditional country sound - electric guitars - not in Country! Had to fight tooth and nail just to get played on the radio. Most did't get their dues until after their deaths, RIP WAYLON. Today, it's still that but not as bad because the fans have social media and access to Nashville's Executive. Hell, one of today's best artists puts on the best live shows, tearing up guitars like Hendrix and has been doing so for 25 years and just this year is finally winning award....Keith Urban, in his torn jeans and t-shirts. Just wanted you to know what fighters these artists are. I wish you would react to this video! Ronnie Milsap, one of those great artish, songwrtter, and he's blind. Completely agree about the fact that many genres and songs take you back to memories or times in your life that mean a lot to you, but also that if you didn't hear this type of music growing up its hard to break into. Kudos to you both for breaking into genres that aren't necessarily "yours" historically but mean a lot to others. These older 60's and 70's country songs are what I grew up with, but I also love your heavier content as well. Best channel on the KZfaqs, keep it up!
