To catalyse the process, you can do the following :- 1) Add some sour buttermilk. This will introduce bacteria into the bin. 2) Take a few grams of jaggery, and powder it. Soak it in a glass of water overnight. Add the mixture to the bin. 3) Add some dry cow dung cake. It is rich in microorganisms, and usually has some earthworm eggs. The eggs will hatch in a few weeks, and this will introduce earthworms in the bin. Once you have them, the composting process will be super fast. 4) Give the bin a nice mix frequently. Mixing the bin will accelerate the process of composting.

No, this is a fungi based compost. If we add these bacterial accelerator. The out put is not that worthy.

Thanks very much for the wonderful video. This is really informative I will definitely start to make leaf compost at home now. Just one query - as you mentioned the leaf sacks needs to be stored on shade always? And does it attracts insects etc which can enter through holes made into it?

Thankyou for such an informative video. Just a few doubts. I have lot of Ashoka and mango leaves in my school. Can these be composted. Bcoz these leaves are thick and yellow when they fall off. They are not crispy which can be easily crushed with hands so had I doubt.

Thanks for the appreciation. Yes, you can use any leaves. More the variety the better will be the quality of the leaf mould. The thicker leaves take some time to become crisp, but no issues you can use it as it is.

Sorry to bother you again. There are piles of dried bougenville flowers also. Can those be also added with dried leaves? If not with leaves then can we still use them to make a separate compost of flowers?

Try composting flowers seperately as they get composted faster and the end product would be rich in sulphur, potassium and phosphorus so it will be very useful for all your flowering and fruiting plants.

Can we add a few ml of panchagavya or gokripamrith to fasten the process. I had seen a video of go kripamruth being sprinkled in a open heap of dry leaves to fasten the process of decomposing.

*The Budget Gardrner, But West decomposer is 100% natural bacteria which is extracted from tons of cow dung and time is the factor here. I use it to decompose kitchen waste also and very quickly the kitchen waste is decomposed.*
