लीफ मोल्ड या लीफ कंपोस्ट या सूखी पत्तियों की खाद, ग्रोइंग मीडिया के तौर पर इस्तेमाल की जाने वाली एक बेहतरीन चीज है जिसे पेड़ पौधों की झड़ चुकी पत्तियों की कंपोस्टिंग करके बनाया जाता है। लीफ कंपोस्ट के उपयोग के बारे में मैं अक्सर अपने वीडियोस में जिक्र करता रहा हूं और आज की वीडियो में मैं आपको बताऊंगा कि लीफ कंपोस्ट को मैं अपने घर पर कैसे तैयार करता हूं। मुख्य रूप से सूखी पत्तियों की कंपोस्टिंग से तैयार होने वाला लीफ कंपोस्ट, दरअसल आंशिक रूप से अपघटित पत्तियां होती है जो कंपोस्टिंग के बाद एक भुरभुरे और ब्राउन कलर के ऐसे मटेरियल में बदल जाता है जो काफी हल्का होने के बावजूद काफी अधिक मात्रा में पानी को होल्ड कर सकता है। लीफ कंपोस्ट में पोषक तत्वों की मात्रा बहुत अधिक तो नहीं होती है, लेकिन अपनी बनावट, हवा और पानी को एक साथ होल्ड करने की क्षमता और ह्यूमिक एसिड की मौजूदगी के कारण यह एक बेहतरीन साॅइल कंडीशनर के तौर पर काम करता है। पॉटिंग मिक्स में इसका उपयोग करने पर यह साॅइल को हवादार बनाने के साथ पानी को धारण करने की क्षमता भी बढ़ा देता है, साॅइल के टेक्सचर को इंप्रूव करता है, साॅइल के टेंपरेचर को नियंत्रित रखने में मदद करता है और थोड़ी मात्रा में हर तरह के पोषक तत्वों को भी उपलब्ध कराता है। साॅइल में लीफ मोल्ड के उपयोग से, मिट्टी में ह्यूमस की मात्रा बढ़ जाती है जिससे प्लांट का रूट ग्रोथ काफी अच्छा होता है और प्लांट की हेल्थ और प्रोडक्टिविटी बढ़ जाती है।
Leaf mold or leaf compost is a great product used as a soilless growing media which is made by composting the shedded leaves of plants. I have been mentioning often in my videos about the usage of leaf compost and in today's video I will tell you how do I prepare leaf compost at home. Mainly prepared from composting of dry leaves, leaf compost is actually the partially decomposed leaves, which after composting turns into a crumbled and brown colored material which can hold a lot of water in spite of being very light. Although the nutrient content in leaf compost isn't much more, but due to its texture, ability to hold air and water together and due to the presence of humic acid, it acts as a great soil conditioner. When used in potting mix, it improves aeration as well as water holding capacity of the soil, improves the texture of the soil, helps to regulate soil temperature and also provides all kinds of nutrients in small amounts. After using leaf mold in the soil, the amount of humus in the soil increases due to which the root growth of the plant becomes very good and the health and productivity of plants increases.
