Bartje - you are truly overdue a public recognition of your work: you have been educating masses in matters musical. As an Eastern-European-trained classical pianist in my youth, to a middle-aged American, a collector of "selected" classical-music CDs, with a propensity for encyclopaedic knowledge, I have considered myself fairly well versed in the classical European music matters. That is until I "ran" into you and discovered your KZfaq postings: for me you have opened so many doors that I haven't even known ever existed. Thank you man.

@@bartjebartmans I can only second Predrag-Peter Ilich's comment. The amount of hidden treasures you upload - with scores! - is absolutely amazing. I wish I had had access to your channel 30 years ago when I was studying composition - but that doesn't make me any less grateful for you making so much incredible music available today. You have my profound gratitude!

Thank you very much. As a student I dreamed about means to look at a score while hearing the performance. Thanks to technology and KZfaq I am able to fulfill that dream.

This piece is incredible! Juon does a great job of using different combinations of the three solo voices plus the entire orchestra to create some of the most exciting and spellbinding music I've come across. I can't believe I'd never heard of Juon before -- its crazy how many incredible composers have been lost to time.

Again a magnificent work by Paul Juon, the perfect equilibrium between late romantic and a more modern approach is simply astounding and keeps one spellbound. Thanks !

Gorgous work, and especially the piano skills of Francois Killian!

That entry is pure badassery (the introduction of the theme; smooth [1:02]), I would also liken the entrance to the grand orchestra in 2:26 to the Prokofiev 2nd Piano Concerto's orchestral reentry after the infamous cadenza. I'm glad that Juon is getting deservedly good appraisal, as for what he does for his output is astounding!

Wahrlich faszinierend!

OT. I'm listening back my Juon''s playlist in these days. I noticed that beyond #2 (uploaded by another pioneer like you, Rufinatscha channel) it misses violin concertos #1 & #3. Any idea if they have been ever recorded? It appears that no CD or YT or Amazon or Spotify upload exists. Also, concerning piano works, only Vol 1 of Rodolfo Ritter exists. Did he ever publish Vol 2? Not the least, no trace of piano quintet #1 and cello sonata op 4 exist Maybe you know more or someone else herewith reading maybe has any hint for me .....

Wonderful! Agree that middle mvt may be a stand alone, but the whole job is impressive. I heard yesterday the live performance resident on YT. Now your version, whose better sound makes me inclined to prefer it, independently on quality of itself performance (I prefer this one because orchestra has higher caliber and soloists seem to be better coordinated). Masterwork!

He taught Gunnar Johansen (I need to hear some of his recs again ) .This guy taught Skalkottas (don't know why he gets attention but what do I know ?). Philip Jarnach and taught Stefan Wolpe . What could anyone teach his forward mind . I'd like to hear some of Wolpe's ealiest compositions . I can't listen to late Romanticism of Juon really anymore - though this interests ...Pancho Vladigerov . Theres a name I remember seeing before . Let's go find his contribution .

Avery clever work whose dissonance strains the bounds of Romanticism, but just tonal enough to make it tolerable.
