It's funny that Paul London says don't meet people you grew up watching on TV. I would stay home on Saturday nights to watch him on Velocity, and meeting him was one of my favorite memories of doing videography in the indies. I was helping out a friend of a friend who organized an autograph signing out of state, and Marty The Moth introduced me to him in his hotel room. He seemed more excited to meet me than I did him, and it took all of the maturity I had to not mark the hell out.

Jericho is definitely guilty of being a total mark for himself. If you read his books and what he says in interviews or podcast, it's very obvious he is. Compare that to Steve Austin who came across in his podcast as a down to Earth cat you probably have a beer with at your local dive bar.

@@Sammo212Right. Austin robbed us of a dream match vs Brock Lesnar because he didn’t want to put him over “on RAW”. Even Hulk Hogan put Brock over clean on Smackdown by TKO. This is 2002, when the Austin vs Hogan dream match was right there for the taking. Yet everybody blamed Hogan that it didn’t happen, as always. Meanwhile Hogan put over Rock, Undertaker, Angle and Lesnar in just 2002 alone.

One of his books was good, I think I read Around the world in Spandex. I also thought it was really odd he kept claiming to be a virgin while he was already in the business. But the book was decent. Worst wrestling book I ever read was Dusty Rhodes kayfabe biography.

are we seriously going to give Flair a pass on this. Flair is the 70s version of Hogan. Jericho put over Wade Barret when Cena didn't want to, Bray Wyatt, Ricky Starks KO, list goes on and on. My only complaint about Jericho is that he whined about Chyna when the locker room didn't want her. Then Eddie had to take over Jerichos gimmick but Eddie made it work. Flair and Hogan are two sides to the same coin. It's just that Hogan came out in the 80s when wrestling got mainstream and it got to him. @@elmalifico3708

it sounds like the wrestling business is a tough game because on one hand you need to have belief in yourself and be a "mark" for yourself and be self serving but also you need to be part of the team and work for the benefit of your company and other workers,this makes for an interesting balance as at what point does the scale tip too far in either direction? love him or hate him you cant say he hasnt been one of the most successful wrestlers of arguably all time! it occurs to me that very few of the top stars get through their careers being universally loved by their co-workers,i suppose it boils down to can you live with yourself and the choices you made and was it worth it

Didn't Chris Jericho put over some newcomers in the 2010's like Fandango, Kevin Owens at Mania 33 or am I misremembering?
@98luisornelas6 ай бұрын

@johnselwitz53626 ай бұрын
@@98luisornelasAnd Owens beating Jericho at Mania 33 didn’t mean anything because at the VERY NEXT PPV, Jericho not only beat KO clean but did it by submission, and I’ve heard rumors that Jericho lobbied for that to happen and Vince acquiesced. So at the end, it did absolutely nothing for Kevin Owens.
@Sacrilege836 ай бұрын
@@johnselwitz5362 I'll give you a point there, but still over time people only remember Manias, Rumbles, Series, and Summerslams over the smaller ppv's. So I would argue that picking up the US title at WM33 is a larger rub.
@Sacrilege836 ай бұрын
@@98luisornelas I see then. That aside I guess he had reason considering Fandango's trajectory afterwards. Cena put over Theory last WM. WWE better make use of that and not Fandango it.
@johnselwitz53626 ай бұрын
@@Sacrilege83 And I totally get what you’re saying, that’s a good point but the reason why that sticks out in my mind is because Owens vs. Jericho was such a good feud at first and then completely fell flat at the end. Some of that is not their fault, it’s Vince and his love affair with 50/50 booking, but I remember Owens beat Y2J at Mania for the US title, lost it back to Jericho at the very next PPV, and then TWO DAYS later, Owens won the title back on Smackdown and then Jericho was literally gone from the company after that, making swapping the titles back and forth completely pointless. He made a brief appearance in 2018 at the Greatest Royal Rumble but then that was it, he went to Japan and then AEW. That feud did nothing for Owens. How much more meaningful would it have been for Kevin’s career if, at Wrestlemania, KO vs. Y2J is billed as a retirement match, Owens beats Jericho clean and he can now claim that he is the man who ran a legend like Chris Jericho out of WWE for good? He’s leaving the company anyway to tour with Fozzy, so why not do the honors for someone that the company was clearly high on and could’ve used a shot in the arm like that? Jericho was an elder statesman and someone very well respected in that locker room, so he had enough pull to convince McMahon to do something like that but he chose not to.

I definitely gotta disagree with London. I like London a hell of a lot. And I can't say "Disagree". I can say that his interactions with Jericho is not the way wrestling is now. Maybe AEW may be. Politicing and such. But the WWE is very team minded at the moment. And the environment Paul is describing. I definitely don't see Jericho with that mindset at this point in his career. He's basically put every promising young talent and even guys he really didn't have to put over. He put them over in AEW and made them look strong. He's definitely giving and it's obviously in his contract to do so. And Mox has lately as well. But Jericho more over. Probably most. Especially considering he's definitely a Hall of Famer. And I don't believe he didn't proposition. Maybe he did. However,he didn't force himself,he didn't touch her or molest her in any way. Sure I'm sure it's very scummy especially being a female wrestler and looking up to this man only to find out he's a horny drunk bastard. But that's life.

I do think Chris is one of the all-time grades, I don’t know if I have him in my top 10 because there have been so many grates, but I do think he’s one of the best of his generation for sure, but I sadly have heard this from other people that have said that Once he really became a star, he did kind of change. KC o Coner, who worked in the offices at Smoky Mountain Wrestling , which is the first American wrestling company Chris ever worked at in the early 90s said Chris was really cool at the beginning of his career back before he was basically somebody that was still trying to make a name and get respect but it seems like after he got there that he let the fame go to his head. I’m not exactly sure what happened especially with those two but it feels like they were friends back in the smoky mountain days but. Maybe KC ran into them at some point or tried to reach out and Jericho gave him the quote. I’m a big star now.” Treatment. I like Chris and I do feel like if he wants to keep going he can still go but it doesn’t even feel like he’s trying to be a mentor in AEW. It just feels like he’s selling out to the AEW crowd just to be over with them. not that being a mentor over there would work anyway we’ve heard every legend that has ever worked over there say that most of the roster thinks they don’t need any advice because they got to AEW all by themselves, so why should they listen to anybody. But most of them the only reason they got to that company is because the owner is a money mark and he’s employee, about 50 wrestlers that would never be on national television if it wasn’t for that guy not knowing any better.

No one can make you sign an NDA. I had a former employer who is very well known and offered me a nice deal to sign an NDA. Nope screw that. But I don't buy into rumors. And the last thing is hitting and flirting with someone isn't illegal..

Yeah it's not illegal to flirt and shit but supposedly it was much more than hitting on or flirting man

I think Chris and fozzy should just go on vacation for awhile. And he needs to lay off of the bubbly because he's only getting into trouble when he drinks. Ten years ago Jericho was a future Hall of famer now his future is as bright as midnight.

Bro what I can’t believe ppl are defending this dude yes making pass at someone isn’t illegal! But the problem is he lied and put this girl in a very uncomfortable situation so much that she quit her job.Thats very unprofessional he use his power to get this girl alone just to make a pass at her u should be fired if true no excuses

Fired for hitting on a woman? Whar kind of weak sauce mentality is this? I would agree if there was serious foul play involved. How about we wait for more details to come out before jumping to conclusions.

You can trash guys like Hogan & Shawn Michaels all you want, but at least there never was a Hero Hogan or Heart Break Kollective faction. And before anyone chimes in, no, Immortal is not the same as having your name being praised as the name of the faction.

Chris Jericho held back and killed the pushes of Santana and Ortiz in AEW. That's a very recent perfect example of him literally not giving back the spotlight for younger talent to shine.

Didn't Paul London steal his friend Matt Hardy's girl... after that already happened to Matt Hardy publicly once? Yeah, he definitely has a place to be judging other people...

I used to love Jericho in WWE, his podcasts, music etc. But ever since he joined AEW in 2019, he became a joke. Dude is the biggest mark for himself. The entire run AEW run was sooooo forgettable. It truly shows that without Vince, he can't get over at all.

Take a look at Jericho's stables. Only one member besides Jericho ever really went anywhere. Sammy Guevara, while brief, had some success on his own. But everyone else is in the same spot they were in before the stable.
