If pushed, this would be my favorite McCartney solo song of all time. So beautiful yet so much going on. When he hits the “Yeah… oh ohhh we believe that we can’t be wrong” - it’s like a musical climax. And people like to say that about Lennon, but the reality is he “stayed in his lane.” He had a signature sound and delivery and stuck to it for the most part, even in his solo career. McCartney rarely played it safe, always outside of the box and not afraid to experiment. The man has conquered almost all genres and created his own, tbh. A gift to the world.

There’s a great scene in Get Back where Paul is sitting at the piano and talking to one the roadies about music and chords. The kid asks if the music just comes to you. He says yes and that something came to me last night and he starts playing and singing this song. Amazing.

John Lennon could never have made Temporary Secretary. Also, when people say Paul wasn’t experimental, he’s literally the one who decided to set up that insane crescendo on A Day In The Life and to just put two songs together on that track, and also have that really long piano chord played for like, what was it, 20 seconds? Anyway, all of Ram is an INCREDIBLE album. All of Paul’s albums have insane tracks, but Ram is just so uniquely cohesive about it. Genuinely, incredible collection of songs in every single way.

Paul's ability to pick melodies like apples off a tree is mind-blowing! This song is an example of that. At 1:15, he sings an exquisite line unrelated to the rest of the ballad. Almost a separate idea is the part, " Oh, I believe that we can't be wrong. "

Hugh McCracken, BTW, was a very busy session guitarist in the 60s and 70s, and was invited by Paul to join Wings. He declined. His most well-known work was the slide guitar solo in "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen, the guitar solo in "Hey Nineteen" by Steely Dan, and the main guitar playing fills on Van Morrison classic "Brown-Eyed Girl". From Hackensack, New Jersey. (He played second lead guitar on a couple of albums with B.B. King. Wow.)

It was a complete surprise my kids got my wife and I tickets to show plus got us a condo for four days on Lake Cayuga nearby. Love my kids and am pretty sure this will be our last time to see our musical hero as he will be 80 next month and is slowing down. Good reaction to a fantastic request Prince Harri. Someday I would like to hear "Dear Boy" from the Ram Album , it along with Ram On are two of my favorite early Paul and Linda songs. Not a bad song on the Ram Album. It's a great tune, best on the album. But it could have been an epic had he spent more time on the lyrics. He has a tendency to vamp until he settles on the final lyrics but sometimes just gets lazy. "Hip trying learn to learn" is what it sounds like he's singing, Lennon could have helped with that, he was the wordsmith of the group.

Lennon was the one who threw in jibber jabber. IMO. I am the Walrus is a mush mash with lyrics that no one not on hallucinagenics could decipher. Same with Come Together even though he plaguerized Chuck Berry with the opening line. I think Paul did just fine lyrically especially compared to John's song lyrics which were usually about his favorite subject, "John Lennon"

Ram is a hot mess. All these great bits of melody that generally go nowhere, and a lot of insipid or "let's flip John off" lyrics. This one, a Beatles left-over, is marred by Linda's atrocious backing vocals (and so high in the mix - you thought only John could blunder when mixing songs including his wife on the Sometime In NYC album) and Paul's inability to close the song out properly. It has like three conclusions. Compare to "1985" which closes the Band on the Run album which builds to just the right crescendo and ends where it ought to end.
