The production and arrangement on 'Kodachrome" was phenomenal. It's one of the best sounding 45s on my vintage 1956 jukebox.

This one is really heartwarming. Some very talented folks who were pure genius in the studio, but so unassuming and down to earth it would be easy to underestimate them. The story about Paul's one song turning into the better part of an album helped me picture what that must have been like. Just a bunch of great musicians making great music. Nice to know about this collaboration.

Kodachrome is one of my all time favorite songs! I've had 600 albums at one time and heard them all, I'm an encyclopedia of music and know music. It's got to be on my top 5 favorite songs of all time.

After trying studios in Jamaica, New York, and the West Coast, in Muscle Shoals he gets what he wants in less than 4 days. That's a real tribute to these MS guys musicianship, as if they needed any more accolades.

Every time that I watch one of your videos I have to wonder what it must be like to have that inborn musical talent that all of those guys have. I met Paul and really enjoyed him. Sometimes there’s too many people around and attention gets diverted. These guys have the chemistry to pull it off.

I'm 53 but I remember back in the 70s when I was a young kid , I would sing sweet home Alabama along with lynyrd skynyrd on the car radio and everytime I got to the verse about the swampers and they've been known to pick a song or two, This just brought back some great childhood memories, thanks for another cool interview

LOVE the Swampers’ sound! They could have stopped at “Never Loved A Man” and been famous for all eternity. I didn’t know they were behind “Kodachrome” and “Loves Me Like A Rock”, but it makes TOTAL sense in hindsight. Thanks for sharing!

I love this story. I was fortunate enough to take the tour of Muscle Shoals Sound last year and hear them tell this story while standing in the middle of the studio. In the tour, they tell you that the original studio had a tin roof that leaked when it rained. When Paul Simon first showed up, it was raining. He walked into the studio only to find the Swampers running around with towels and buckets trying to keep water from dripping on the recording console.

Great interview as Always, Joe. These musicians and those small studios were from a time where magic was created. No pro-tools or multi-tracking DAW’s...just raw live talent. Most of these greats are not with us anymore, however, their music lives on. I’m a musician for over 55 years and remembering going to the Fillmore East. Now, that was magic. I also remember vividly the night of February 9, 1964, when a new direction in music began. They were called the Beatles. My life since then was never the same. Keep up the good work, Joe. Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band....is the album that flipped the music world on it's ears! So strange I can play that album today...it still has that sense of freshness as the first time I heard it! 😁👍

If you love music, watch the movie/documentary ‘Muscle Shoals’…I personally guarantee it will be the best movie you’ve ever seen. I have bad ADD and fall asleep during almost every movie, rarely ever watching a movie twice. I’ve watched this movie over 10 times, eyes wide open, and am going to watch it many more times.

Another great interview, Joe. My father-in-law, whose cousin is a well-known Nashville session player, knew the late Rick Hall personally because they grew up in and continued to live near the little town of Red Bay, AL. If interested in this topic, I highly recommend people read Hall’s book, “The Man from Muscle Shoals,” and watch the doc, “Muscle Shoals.” What a great story.

He has had his own yo tub channel for years and recently has been posting stuff ..you mught be able to hit him up on it but i dont know. Much about him dont listen to him but just trying to throw you a potential way of asking Respect

Hi Free... actually yes I do have a contact with Paul. This time about a year ago we were having our Musicians Hall Of Fame induction ceremony and we were inducting Don Everly for the Iconic Riff Award for his rhythm guitar intro of the song “Wake Up Little Susie. Paul was flying in to perform the song with Don but unfortunately the morning of the induction ceremony Paul’s manager called me and said that Paul was extremely sick with the flu, I wonder if he had a early case of corona? Thankfully he got over it and is doing fine but but he still had to pay $40,000 for the Learjet he had rented to make the trip. I felt really bad about him not being here to induct Don and equally as bad for him about losing that much money. Thankfully our MC for the night was the great Paul Shaffer and he did a great job filling in for Paul Simon. I doubt that we could do a face to face video interview at this time until the vaccinations are distributed but he might do a written or oral interview about Muscle Shoals. I might look into that and thank you for the question. Best , Joe

Nothing like hearing the real story from the people who weerr there. Especially when they are low key guys like these men here. I remember reading the album covers and seeing muscle shoals so many times. Years later I saw the documentary and I was mesmerized by the number of great records that were recorded there by the guys in this video.

Darned shame fewer and fewer people know Kodachrome was a type of photographic film from the Eastman Kodak Co. Vivid colors that made ordinary things extraordinarily beautiful (and without drugs!) The lyrics of this song ring true..even in our digital age. So Mama, don’t take my Kodachrome away.
