Almost every time that Paul Simon has released a new record, all the way back to 'Sounds Of Silence', there's been a song on it which makes me seriously ask, "Is this the best song he's ever written?" At various times I've considered 'Sounds of Silence', 'America', 'Bridge', 'Something So Right', 'Late in The Evening', 'Hearts And Bones', 'Graceland', 'Proof', 'Darling Lorraine', etc to be his supreme compositional achievements. When 'Slip Sliding Away' was released as a single, I couldn't stop listening to it on repeat for weeks. It took me a month just to flip the disc over and discover the magnificent and scandalously undervalued 'Stranded In A Limousine'! We are honoured to be living in the time when Paul Simon was creating music which, more than any of his contemporaries, will almost certainly be valued for generations to come, long after the Dylans, Springsteens, Beatles and Elton Johns are known only to historians.

When Paul reaches his destination I'm calling out of work to lay in bed and think of things that might have been.

Trumpet players will immediately recognize the trumpeter in the backup band is playing a "C" trumpet (usually the key of choice trumpet played in a symphony orchestra.) Bb trumpet is the trumpet almost always used in jazz and rock. As a trumpet player, I wonder why he chose to use a C horn?
