Paul Simpson was the leader of Liverpool post-punk band Wild Swans and an integral part of the Liverpool post-punk scene, which he brilliantly details in his new memoirs 'Revolutionary Spirit: A Post-Punk Exorcism: The Teardrop Explodes, Care, The Wild Swans, And Beyond'. The book is a deep dive into that fascinating scene and great stories about the key characters in the Bunnymen, Teardrop, Pete Burns and that colourful cast of characters, plus a fleeting appearance from Courtney Love all detailed in this great interview.

Great interview, John & Paul. I love how succinct John is when explaining how everything changed in 1983/84 ...Post-punk became New Pop. The corporate record companies regained the upper hand. I'm halfway through Paul's book and thoroughly enjoying it. The present historic approach works really well & what a humble charming man he is.

There were so many groups in Liverpool in those days! I'm a bit angry I missed the sex pistols at Eric's as well I only lived up the road at the time
