I knew Paul for a long time. He used to come around to our house when I was young and he was such a character. You either loved him or hated him, but when he’d had a drink he was a nightmare. I once saw him laying in the road outside of Thornes Park. I tried to wake him up but I couldn’t. We called an ambulance and waited with him till it came. He did wake up and I’ll never forget he turned to me, no idea who I was, and said, “You should have left me there”. Two people in one body.

Mrs H 🇬🇧 ..Sadly time doesn't stand still..We all will come to the end..When we're young we are invincible and don't think of getting old through old age/or illness ..BUT Paul isn't the first & won't be the last .. What I find sad is today's young wannabes won't ever understand or appreciate what a man he was... 💔

Childhood trauma is a real thing .. and I think that effected him.. was brought up getting hit and put in the ring as a kid.. and sparring from a kid and then as a man getting punched and sparring guys like Joe Frazier. Look what the Frazier fight's done to Muhammad Ali.. cte is a real thing so much that football players from the past have gotten cte from heading the ball.. if you watch Alan shearers documentary.. and how players that won the world cup with England most of them ended up with brain trauma as they got older.. now in America kids playing soccer aren't allowed to head the ball until after the age of 12.. so boxing from a young age getting punched in the head and then sparring gym wars and he was a heavyweight.. sparring big men plus all the fight's he had.. wouldn't shock me if Sykes had some cte in his older years which can.. make you depressed have mood swings turn to substance abuse to make themselves feel better when really there doing more damage.. look at the NFL players that have done crazy things hit there wife's became aggressive pro wrestlers also .. killing family members going crazy then they check there brain and they have bad cte.. NFL player was depressed had been violent.. he shot himself in the stomach and left a note saying check my brain something is wrong I don't feel right.. recently ex UFC fighters Phil baroni killed his girlfriend in Mexico and when he was in the UFC Dana White said I'm not giving you anymore fights .. you have got brain trauma his speech was changing his behaviour.. and he sparred hard for years used to box and play American football before MMA.. stories about him leaving the gym walking about looking for his car then going back to the gym shouting some fuckee has stolen my car I'm going to kill him.. then for a teammate to say Phil your cars round the back you parked it round there.. he couldn't remember.. and him going walks and not remembering how to get home.. but he fought on for another 10yr had wars in the cage and the gym.. now he's in a Mexican prison snapped and killed his girlfriend.. also had started drinking alot .. cte is a real thing that effects people's behaviour now BJ Penn.. MMA legend fought well past his prime had gym wars .. now he's getting arrested fighting guys in bars outside bars just acting crazy he's not the same guy now took to many punches kicks and knees to the head.. bet Sykes had cte that guy had been getting punched in the head from a kid .. then knocked out as he got older and was drunk all the time.. guy must have had some brain trauma growing up getting punched in the head .. not good for the brain .. listen to ex world champions now riddick Bowe James Toney Tommy hearns.. and many more they have problems just speaking now.. Ali he fought past his prime and got brain trauma.. even the trainer Freddy roach now has problems caused by getting punched.. Roger Mayweather.. his life as a boxer ruined his brain .. it's sad to see guys that were warriors now finding it difficult to speak remember things

Paul did a lot of terrible things in his life time….. I’m 100% shaw of it. from the amount of story’s iv been told over the years. Regardless how horrible he was, he didn’t deserve to be burnt alive, or set upon while incapacitated. I found him very easy to talk to over his last few years of life. Albeit while he was pissed. Or smoking my joint or cigs at the time. He was actually sociable. My Old man knew him well, all through his early years they drank together quite often . He wasn’t all bad. But he was “Paul Skyes”

They wouldn't have done anything back in the day, or in front of Michael or Paul jnr. I lived on Lupset, ive seen cars and vans full of police going up the street to pauls House, you knew exactly where they were going...they were always at least 3 cars and a van full of old bill. He was a nightmare for police, doormen in Wakefield etc.. when he was banned from the pubs n clubs, he'd go to nightclub doormen, and get them to go grab him a crate from behind the bar! He couldn't even go to an off licence for ale, banned fom everywhere! Sad how he died. Ive seen his gravestone as hes burried near my old pal. His headstones got a picture of boxing gloves on it.

Was out with the Mrs one night and as we were leaving he burst through the door, he could hardly walk and was covered in blood from someone giving him a kicking… thought that was a low thing to do but after finding out what he did to young people in prison, I can understand why…. People watch the documentary of him where he was acting for the cameras, they buy jamies books and it builds up this portrait of the man. In reality he was an unemployed man living on a council estate and a man with no obvious prospects. It wasn't tragic. I would not personally piss on anyone. Nor would I ever set a human being on fire. I wouldn't kick or punch a semi-conscious old drunk. Those are bestial things to do. But Paul Sykes was so far beyond being a bully for the first 40 years of his life. He was a dangerous sexual predator. A true psychopath. He was sadistic. He reveled not just in making his victims feel fear & pain but in humiliating and degrading them. Ironically he spent 20 years finding out how it felt to be the victim of people a lot like himself. That is what happened. I have no sympathy or admiration for Sykes and none at all for his tormentors. . I feel for his many victims and I hope they found peace at some point in their lives. But I know enough to realise that many of them did not. It is for them I'll save my empathy. This man left the world worse than he found it. The fact of him being an abused child did not give him leave to abuse so many other children when he grew to be a man.

There seems to be an unending list of 'true crime' characters around these days. Either in books, youtube channels or both. 'Hard' men that now repent and want to contribute to society, yet seem to revel in their old stories of crime and violence. The truth is, most of them have just got old, way past their prime and the new breed would beat them up or probably just knife them.

We learned about this fella in High School. The Screws from Durham would come and have a talk with all the lads in the last year, a scared straight sort of thing. I remember them asking, "what would you do if another prisoner tried it on with you" and one of the lads said "I'd snap his jaw" to which the screw replied "we had a champion boxer in, used to knock out young lads and have his way with them. He tied them to the bed, and would put a page 3 on their back" one of the Female Teachers was crying, due to the story. They might have said His name, but I don't remember... they were 100% talking about this fella though.

that's why fathers, who go round with his reputations should remember that some guys fall victim to there fathers sins, I watched the now. infamous documentary, on Sykes and find it hard to watch his poor 10 year old flinch, just because his hands were in the boys pocket, yeah very educational, and your correction no one deserves an ending like Sykes, except bacons

People say he was intelligent, may I ask, how was he intelligent? Did he go to university? Did he get a degree? What kind(s). What is this man's educational history, does anybody know? Nice vid Warcry.

But, who exactly called him educated or intelligent? After all, in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king god. It’s all relative. A chimp is intelligent compared to a horse. He read a lot, and some believe that automatically makes you intelligent. It doesn’t. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re even well read.

In all fairness, there's a difference between education and intelligence. Plenty of intelligent people don't have the opportunity for and education, and educated people are not necessarily "intelligent".
