Paul & Hunter‪@FabRats‬ use the roll-back to move a walk-in-cooler to Clayton's ‪@SAWDUSTLUGNUTS‬ shop in Glendale. Will the Roll-back make it in and out of the mud?

Greetings from Torrance! Hello sir! There is a saying (it's not mine! I just remembered it from 20 years ago) Friends help you move.....Good friends help you move bodies. It's kinda appropriate since you are going to put elk in there. Thanks again for another day in the life! BTW- how much elk do you want to put in there? One elk could feed a lot of people many, many meals. A container of elk? Oh boy!

We got 6 Elk last year, did one whole Elk into jerky and summer sausage. We share with friends and family so 3 or 4 Elk will usually last us a full season. I may have to work a deal on a Buffalo somewhere to fill the freezer. I have done that before. It's excellent meat. Thanks for checking in.

Been considering a scaled down version just for hanging and drying meats. Here in Florida it does not get cold and dry enough to do it Traditional Italian Style for making Hot Ham, Dried Sausages, Prosciutto and such. Slow dried sausages hung in a cold room can be packed in jars of olive oil and last for years without refrigeration afterwards if kept in a cool dark room. This time of year I used to make a few hundred lbs or so annually before I moved here from New England. Made my own grinder plates out of old commercial saw blades to have ones course enough to get the right texture as ground too fine they just won't taste right. Just need some unfinished clean wooden rods to hang the sausages over as metal will sweat and get moldy and some clean wooden salt boxes on wooden slat racks to get the hams and prosciutto going before hanging them from strings. Here keeping the ants at bay can be interesting too since it never gets cold enough for them to go into diapause and hibernate during these months. Hope to see some results from this. Perhaps a project to raise it up a touch to make it more critter and flood proof might be interesting. Best!

I have plans for a gravel pad and some skirting of some nature. It's just to boggy for my skid now. it'll be spring before it will be dry enough to get a skid steer in there. I have some nice plans for it.

@@SAWDUSTLUGNUTS Are Bear and other larger vermin much of a problem in your area? Where I grew up bear would break into meat lockers if they were too accessible and not fortified in some manner. Here its mostly feral pigs in some areas making it so a patio has to be raised 3 or so feet with gated or lift-able stairs to prevent them from attacking you at night. Gators are everywhere too and much better at climbing fences to get at things then most people might believe. Coons will also try to force doors to get at your food. My brother had one break in to get to the cats dish of kibble while the cat was still there screaming from a high shelf. The coon would have ripped that cat to shreds. The coon literally pulled the frame off in order to get in. Best!
