Paula Vennells failed to tell MPs about 16 examples which undermined the reliability of #Horizon, Lord Arbuthnot said.
The inquiry was shown notes from a meeting attended by Post Office executives and several MPs in June 2012 - including the then-Tory MP.
Notes taken by Lord Arbuthnot’s staff describe how Ms Vennells, who attended in person, the then-Post Office chief executive described the accountancy software as “very secure”.

She acted with deliberate malice , many of the prosecutions were carried out years after it became known there was a software problem , no one stopped to ask themselves why hundreds of normal rational hitherto blameless people suddenly embarked on criminal activity. Vennels believed that sub postmasters would inevitably give in to temptation and steal. Such was her contempt for the 'little' people who were the bed rock of the Post Office. She and her senior management were so mired in greed that they couldn't concieve that someone wouldn't take every penny they could.

She's already apologised profusely for the harm done to the subpostmasters "by the Horizon system". As if the computer had a mind of its own and was able to initiate prosecutions all on its own, without oversight or restraint! That "apology" was such utter blame-shifting, she should be ashamed to have ever uttered the words. The woman needs to actually apologise for the harm done to subpostmasters "by me and the organisation I led". And then she needs to be prosecuted for lying to Parliament. And when she gets out after a few months in jail for that, she needs to be prosecuted for corporate manslaughter. And then she needs to be sued for every penny she has, to make tangible financial restitution.

Without doubt, withholding pertinent information about previous cases because it would be detrimental to present cases under investigation is tantamount to lying. Paula Vennells therefore should be found guilty of perjury and jailed.

That's not quite how it works, but yes I agree in principle. The failure of PO Ltd to disclose documents which they knew would have assisted the defence, could certainly harm any prosecution case to the point where it is deemed unsafe. Perjury is a different offence.

Actually I think it was Theresa May, but Vennells is one of hundreds given honours for bringing dishonour. And she had the gall to preach about God to people, when behind the scenes she destroyed lives, mental health, families, finances, knowing all the time these people were innocent. She lied and lied and got very handsomely rewarded (and honoured) for it. There must be jail for this cold calculated woman, and it should come quickly, not in another 25 years.

I know something about this... my ex ran a sub post office for many years and random amounts from £50 to £500 were added to her books most weeks. Only once was £300 was taken away. Whenever she queried it, she was told that she had made an error. She never made errors on the pre Horizon paper ledgers. The system was faulty from day one.

The Post Office investigators clearly did not adhere to the basic disclosure test - Material must be disclosed if it "might reasonably be considered capable of undermining the case for the prosecution or of assisting the case for the accused. It appears there has been a major cover up.

For the UK we should only vote for independent candidates. Do not vote for any candidate that belongs to any political party. No existing political party has come out with any policies on any of the several current major issues concerning lies by business and government. Government does not consider it their responsibility to intervene when it is obvious that ordinary honest people are being wrongfully imprisoned on trumped up charges by a government owned business. A government that cannot protect people from such injustice is not fit to govern and must not be tolerated. Even listing some of the other issues here will lead to this post being censored.

These people higher up all knew about this problem yet persisted in cases against more post office staff. They should all be in goal for perjury as a minimum. Huge compensation should be given to all Horizon users. Staff at the computing company could also have stolen money with the access they had to the files.
