Funny, but my 30 year old son saw this video for the first time last night and asked when Paula Abdul put this out. I told him the late 80s. His immediate reaction was "I guess everyone wanted to be Janet Jackson back then." I laughed and explained that it was Paula Abdul who choreographed Janet Jackson's video "Nasty" which basically rebooted her career. He was flabbergasted. See, always something to teach these young whippersnappers. 😉

Randall Clarkson I agree. It was one of the first singles released on "Forever Your Girl" and wasn't as popular as the album finally got more airplay a year after it was released, so it is definitely critically underrated. The re-release with the Shep Pettibone remix doesn't do the original version justice.

Only stupid commenters like the ones who don't understand the life of REAL DANCERS and performing arts professionals would claim that you're wasting your time when in reality this is a multi generational legacy that both you and I combined are proud to be part of! Never stop dancing! For the record I was a personal friend of Shabba Doo and he taught me Locking and Nina Simmons lives in Phoenix now! Thanks for sharing!

Yep. You can hear the Black American influence. That's usually who Paula was ever around in her prime. Baby face had to make sure that her music was popular back East too because the bass rhythms had to be heavier otherwise the radio stations back then wouldn't play West coast artists.

RestlessRick this is probably my favorite song about her even though it’s not the most popular. Paula was a dance instructor and she would create the choreography for a lot of the professional basketball teams dancers. Later on she became an NBA dancer herself. I had no idea she had a heck of a! Voice until she came out with her first song straight up. Hard to believe this was 30 years ago because my daughter is 30 and I was pregnant in my first trimester when straight up came out. Now it’s amazing to look back 30 years to see how our musicians used to wear clothes at one time😂😂 nowadays most musicians where is a little of nothing as possible and the queen bee herself, Beyoncé, looks great and absolutely anything. I knew when Destiny’s Child came out around 1999 or so that Beyoncé had something special.

Nothing in yrs has come close to.the 80s-90s club, dance scenes. Any club, song, artist..It was impossible to stand still. Great memories Paula's concert was phenomenal . She was too much fun. Theses videos bring back great memories Still love every song on this album.

Back when women danced for themselves, not men. (Shout out, Cardi B and Co.) True empowerment. Not a twerk or dry hump to be seen. My fav song she has ever done.

It’s 1992, my brother and I are in the living room playing with Ninja Turtles action figures and Nintendo. Mom is going from room to room vacuuming and cleaning. This album is in the CD player in the wood Yamaha tower stereo system, with this song playing on BLAST. Damn, what a time to be alive.

She is a beautiful, tiny, dynamo. Her dancing skills went beyond most other acts and in fact she choreographed and taught a lot of singers videos. Love watching her, infectious.

I never understood why people thought this song flopped. I honestly thought she was a light skinned black woman. It was a top 10 Billboard hit, along with (It’s Just) The Way That You Love Me, on the R&B charts. But I guess R&B never mattered according to the media. It still applies today.

What's the problem with raunch? Anyway go check out the choreography of Cold Hearted. Paula was raunchy herself. That's the thing, sexuality has been used to sell music for ages upon ages. Open your eyes.
