I got some yogurt at a food bank one time and was so excited because, YOGURT! Then I, thankfully, looked at the expiration dates before opening one and they were SEVEN YEARS out of date.

I've seen canned food explode just sitting in the pantry. I'm from a long line of hoarders lol. This looks YUMMY!!! SHOW NUFF LOOKS WONDERFUL!!! QUESTION: Did you use a can of peaches with the sweet syrup in them or were they in their own natural juices? I know sometimes if you use the can peaches in sweet syrup it can be too sweet. Also, can we use cool wipe instead of having to make our own cool whip? It looked delicious though. Thank you Kimberly and Paula.

The recipe calls it juice and IMO she would have called it syrup if it was the sweetened kind, and yes you can use cool whip even though the recipe calls for whipping your own. This would make Paula happy because she has said many times she prefers whipping her own instead of using a premade such as Cool Whip.

I probably would not have drained off the peach juice then replace it with regular water. I would have just used the juice and added enough water to meet the 2 cups. Can’t be too sweet anyway!

I think she just misspoke (“drain”). She should’ve just said pour the reserved* peach juice into a measuring cup and add enough water to make 2 cups. *Even the recipe says “reserved.”

Canned food has a sell by date not an expiration date. Very odd for canned food to “go off” if stored properly. Our ancestors kept canned food for years without it going bad. Don’t throw out food because of the date. Too much good food gets wasted. Canadian government is talking about removing so called expiration dates. Don’t throw eggs out because of dates on them. Chickens don’t date stamp their eggs and they work hard to produce them. People need to stop wasting food.

Yes, canned food usually is fine past the sell by date, HOWEVER... 7 years is really stretching it. 1-3 years will usually be fine, after that, it's a crap shoot.

❤❤ Always more the Best By date - 06/2024 (example) or it may also have BB 06/2024 - then naturally when you open the can how does it look, smell, is the texture correct for the canned product/food items. and even taste a bit that you can tell if its still good and alright/safe to use & if you taste it and you find that it has SPOILED naturally you toss it into the trash this avoiding the situation of just preparing the entire dish and finding out it is Totally INEDIBLE.

Play it safe and throw out cans that have been in the cupboard too long. Canned goods do NOT last forever. They can go bad.
