this bug absolutely FLOATS now at low revs. even better when you have a custom intercooler and shortened exhaust (its a bug)😂 i wouldnt even care about an engine lid when it looks this fun to drive. awesome build!!

ive got some questions about the trans ive got a 2.0 mazda engine and trans i wann put in my bug does it mount to the stock trans do i need a custom trans or the mazda trans

I have the stock beetle gearbox mated to the K24 with a Kennedy adapter plate. I don’t recommend this since the beetle gearbox is weak. I drive it very carefully as to not break it. I plan on switching to a built 002 bus gearbox soon.

My thoughts: You might consider getting a small winch mounted on the front end. Hang a decent sized/capable First Aid Kit from the headrest of the Driver’s seat. Mud grip tires A modern AM/FM/CD stereo system A cargo rack over the type of the engine * Remember, my shared thoughts are worth every penny you paid me….

k series is a type, or "series" of honda engines, JDM is japanese cars

I am being so careful with it! No launches, no burnouts, no donuts! I’ve only ever given it about half throttle. This thing is still fast! I’m going to baby it until I get a gearbox built.

Vermont is a great place to register your car if you don’t live there. You don’t even need a title! Just a bill of sale. Send in the paperwork to the VT DMV and boom, 3 weeks later you have license plate and registration! VT rocks. Totally legal too.

Around 20 mpg. I don’t have a functional odometer yet so it’s hard to tell but 20 is close.

Only the k20a3 and k20a2 came in the rsx and rsx type s the k24a2 came in the acurs tsx but if it's jdm it would prob be a k24a that didn't come in either to my knowledge

It’s the K24a2 out of the JDM Honda TSX Type S. I just didn’t want to confuse the USDM people with Honda TSX

@@PaulBarger thanks for the response. Not trying to sound negative if anyone thinks I'm coming off that way. I work at a honda dealership as a mechanic. I now understand what you meant, in japan they have the honda accord type s 2002-2008 that had a jdm k24a and it made 197hp to the flywheel in yhe us we call it the acurs tsx. The 04-05 tsx made 197hp and the 06-08 tsxmade 205hp no k24 from any vehicle made 211 hp the jdm k20a engine from the ep3 type r was the closest k series engine to 211hp it made 212hp to the flywheel. Just some info for anyone who was curious

Yeah! Thanks for the info! I’m don’t know anything about Hondas really! I am not taking it like you’re being negative at all. I really appreciate the knowledge you’re offering. I want to be as knowledgeable about the motor as possible. I just didn’t know. I thought the stock HP was 211. So it’s actually more like 197 HP

@@PaulBarger if you do even mild off roading, I would consider at the least a solidly built roll bar. A full on cage is a bit much... And they do make it a pain to get in and out.

Up yours lol! Put a VW 2.0 TSI in it. It’s basically the same performance-wise, but it’s VW. You cannot put a Japanese motor into that car and not expect hate. It’s sacrilegious. Just wrong. Don’t you dare show up at a VW/Porsche/Audi show you WILL be kicked out

The motor looks terrible too. Just a blocky appendage that’s way out of place. Go to a VW show and learn how to do a modern engine correctly in these. Radiator is all wrong; could go in front with a VW 2.0 swap. Or even better, put a more modern air-cooled engine in there. The big advantage of the air-cooled was space savings in a tiny car. This thing is just dumb sorry. And not to mention illegal in most states
